2. FNWA guy - met him last night walking through SLC. Introduced myself and found that he was 330 Captain from SEA that had just deadheaded to SLC for the Narita flight. He said that he was most likely going to take early out. He didn't want to leave SEA and didn't seem too enthused about going through 767 initial. Really nice guy! 61 year old.

Both guys volunteered this information. I guess they just want to talk about it. I know it must be a very difficult decision.

The DAL guy a commuter from CLT or something like that. Initials L.O.?

I have family up there and they welcome us up there with open arms. Must be that they are originally from IA.
Heck they can't stand the cold and are looking to move too!

L.O. is a great guy. Last I remembered he stayed on as 76 domestic captain and gave up the 777 slot. Lost track of him, though.

Do we ever have to worry about Compass' E175s being sold out from under CPZ to RAH? Not sell the airline but sell the planes and therein end the airline and therein the flow through and flow up.

Kind of like when Mid Atlantics E170s were sold to RAH and all those Mid Atlantic (furloughed USAir) pilots were put out on the street again.

Just met him in passing at the training center while I was in recurrent. He's finishing up 777 training. Don't recall his name. Good guy. Just ready to hang it up. I imagine there's around 150 guys in the same boat.

I think there are also some N-DAL guys/gals who missed the boat when the merger went thru out there. I happened pretty quick.

Maybe the whole hat thing will push some guys over the edge too. I wear mine just so I can shake my head at the older, non-wearers. I also give them the "see, if you were retired you wouldn't be required to wear a hat." look. Maybe they will get tired of my ridicule. :D

Nothing to do with DAL but can you say "balanced field length". The controllers commentary is pretty good. Makes a 727 in TUS in the summertime look like a 757.

The Houston-based airline’s flight 1567 from Cleveland to Newark’s Liberty International Airport was late 90 percent of the time during the month, according to the report. Overall, the flight was the fifth-most-delayed during April. Leading the list was Northwest Airlines’ flight 803 from Atlanta to Honolulu, which was late 96.6 percent of the time, according to the report.
Any DAL-N guys know what the deal is with this.....Found the article on Yahoo news.

Probably the ATL ramp, but its an eyebrow raiser for sure.

iceman49 06-10-2009 02:15 PM

Isn't that a cross-fleeted flight?
