You are correct.
It would be terms for an extension, NOT a Section 6. Leaving the work rules alone is a part of how an extension provides stability and why the company would offer it in lieu of a full rewrite. |

Delta needs a hub in the South Central part of the us. Before AMR's filing the DFW gates (all of em) are up for new leases and AMR is going to shrink. If we opted to forgo DFW and or MIA long term it would be to the companies detriment. Airlines like ALK would also fit to make the hub and spoke work out of these cities. |

I know it would be larger each percent... basic concept still holds.
Math redone. I too will be floored to make it to April without an offer that is just good enough to send to memrat. |

Go it about the extension...6 months max.
How does the company benefit from only 6 months more of stability when they will get 18-30 months of "status quo" out of the Section 6 process? Keep in mind we merged MX stores systems a few months ago and just resolved the last union integration issues a week ago from a merger that occurred almost 4 year ago..... You have to make it worth it for everybody involved, and unfortunately the company holds 99% of the cards. If we as a pilot group entertain an extension that is substandard then I agree we should go for the full Section 6 and skip an interim agreement. |
Woohoo! I get to be "regular" in January. I guess two weeks of vacation will do that for you. Now I have to go back and read all those WS and swap posts I've been ignoring.

I'm constantly amazed by how much mileage Delta gets just through talk. "We are a world class airline..." blah, blah, blah. And even more amazed by how many of us start believing it after we've heard it enough. Actions speak louder than words. I can't figure out where Delta is the "industry leader" in anything (other than pilot skill, of course). Not in pay (other than the CEO), not in customer service, and certainly not in IT.
So when some guy in 15C has more actionable, real-time weather information than I do, and Bubba the Dispatcher can't be bothered to look up from his 1980s NASCAR reruns to answer my request for weather info, it's a bit ridiculous. We've had the capabillity to get real-time data up front for a couple of years, but we're still lagging. I'd just like to see Mama D put its money where its mouth is and get out in front on something...anything. As far as I can tell, I'm not sure how Delta is in any position to lure top-quality pilots in the next boom with a complete inability to lead the industry. Every once in a while the sun does come out! One can always re-place NASCAR in the above with curling and have the same complaints!:D |

As a DC-9 guy, I understand your frustration with technology. But, then again, as a DC-9 guy who as of right now still makes less than what I made in the same seat in 2001, the only mouth I want Mama D to feed is mine and my fellow pilots. I can deal with the "old technology" paper ship sets as long as it takes. Just pay me. Just secure my job. Just make my life easier. Just give me enough to formulate some kind of retirement plan. I don't think ipads attract the best pilots. Money does. I think Southwest pilots still do their own weight and balance and yet they lure top-quality pilots, don't they? |
