Exactly! I love how we were told by our union a while back that even with these rule changes our pilot group is protected because the rules in the PWA still apply. Yet, what were we being asked in the contract survey? Answer (in so many words): How important are the current rest rules you enjoy in the PWA? (i.e. what are you willing to give up?). Not quite so sacrosanct as some would have you believe with the statement "We have these rules in the PWA so we're OK!"

FWIW, the NTSB Human Factors Investigators already do this. Whether the FAA might pick it up for enforcement action is a good question.

Depends on where you depart from.. Was just trying to make a lame example of a close to 8 hour turn. Should have used aua as it was blocked for 7:59 at certain times of the year and would have worked better.

Which phone to buy for commuting pilot? Android or IPhone 4s? (Sprint)

Ok, I know there are a LOT of posts on here about this, and I am currently on the thread search reading through them... but just in case one of you has already DONE all this research and really has a good opinion, I'd rather just run out and buy the thing!

I am on a 2008 Palm Treo "Windows 6" phone, which I've liked but is not getting iffy for charging etc. I need a new phone, want to move into the new age. I expect to do phone/text, some email, like to look at an excel spreadsheet on it, and access ICREW for jumpseat and PCS info. And Travelnet or other webpages for commuting info.

Which phone to get? I don't have any other Apple stuff yet...
Thanks for any help or links. I'll be catching up on the back-posts while hoping for some new brilliant post to solve my research problems!
Samsung's Galaxy IIS , if (Epic 4g Touch on Sprint) has a better processor, much, MUCH, better S AMOLED screen and real 4G speed (versus Apple's 3G connectivity). It is easier to root and tether the Sammy if you are a super user who does not want to pay $30 a month for tethering.

Either the Epic 4G, or the upcoming Nexus phones will get the newest version of Android (Ice Cream Sandwich), but, this brings us to an area where Apple's better product support IS an issue. Android phones are designed to be obsolete. Unlike Apple, not every phone gets the new operating systems as they come out and Samsung wants you to lust after the L&G enough after a year to buy a new phone. As a result of all the customers left behind in a non current OS, the app developers tend to dumb down their apps to the lowest common OS. On the other hand Apple keeps their products up to date. As a result you will see the latest and greatest Android phone for $0.99 some day while Apple products never hit the free price point. Also, Google is getting a little more Apple like in the way they are beginning to lock down the software unless you root your phone. On a scale of 1 to 10 with Apple being a completely closed "10", Google has moved from completely open to perhaps a "2."

So, if you are a hacker, or ever used Linux, you will LOVE Android. If you're willing to accept a couple of year ago tech in exchange for cool build quality & and less frustration when your phone gets orphaned, Apple is the way to go. Both have more Apps than you can consider.

Sprint's got a dire problem. They were the first to go 4G with a network called WiMax they developed with Clearwire. WiMax has real limitations, so Sprint partnered with Lightsquared to build out a 4G network. Lightsquared's frequency interferes with GPS and it appears that they will not be able to use it Sprint ran back to Clearwire, but it is not clear whether that relationship is what it used to be. Sprint is over a barrel with limited bandwidth, one partner who can't use its frequency and another partner who hates them. Even worse, they are all running out of cash and the 4g LTE Advanced build is going to cost something like 4 Billion and they have a 2.5 Billion dollar payment due in March.

Sprint is selling the iPhone, but they really need to get the iPhone users off their 3G network so they use their limited frequency band to build out a more modern network. Sprint denies it, but the iPhone users seem to have drug their 3G network to a crawl. (Used to see 8 to 20 MBS at KATL, now see 0.5 )

I just renewed with Sprint, which I regret. Love the company and unlimited data plan, but it appears they are about to pull a SAAB. It will either be the turn around story of the century or a bus wreck. The worst case appears most probable right now.

So, all other things being equal. I'd go with a Google Nexus Prime (slightly lower spec version of a Samsung Galaxy IIs with Ice Cream Sandwich) or a Motorola Razr (very high spec, very good build quality, also ICS equipped) on Verizon using your Delta discount.

In other news, just picked up a pair of Asus Transformers for the family. Leave the laptop at home. This thing does so much more. Makes an incredible EFB if you fly Pt. 91.

Piper Jaffray has a $607 target on AAPL. (Around $400 right now) Which do you think is more likely?

I LOVE fruit.

Both have analysts’ targets over double their current share prices.
Putz had $8 on American when it went bankrupt.
