If the FAA is serious about safety, they need to be taking a very hard look at what has happened to this profession over the past decade. Same goes for ALPA or any other pilot's union that claims safety as its number one priority. Very well said. I'm fortunate that the First Officers I fly with are almost universally very competent aviators and "good people". But what happens down the road when they take my place in the left seat? I have no concern as to their skills but what about the caliber of their First Officers? How will Delta (or this profession in general) attract top-notch people? The military pipeline is a heck of a lot smaller, and who, in their right mind, will take on the monumental debt to get their ratings and go the civilian route? I realize my post essentially paraphrases what DAL 88 said, but I'm hoping to spur some discussion... |

Hey Roadkill, I'm currently chillin' in my truck on my laptop while my wife drives us to grandma's house. Using the free android app, PdaNet, tethered to my HTC Incredible. My son and I have been streaming Netflix through the phone on the laptop "big screen" for the last couple hours. I also have GrooveIp which allows free calls while using no minutes. If your on wifi you can make free calls using grooveip and google voice. Android phones may not be the hip cool toy like an iphone but they have less restrictions.
