To summarize, the initial allocation of flying as a result of this slot swap is not what we envisioned two years ago. The long-term expectations of Delta pilots remains the same. We expect the Slot Swap to be good for Delta pilots and for Delta, and that formed the basis for our support for this transaction. While the slot swap will not initially generate the jobs we were lead to believe, that doesn’t take away from the strategic importance of this transaction and the additional revenue it will generate, which we were all instrumental in obtaining, revenue which should support significant improvements in our new contract and potentially provide mainline growth opportunities in the future. It’s also important to recognize the real estate component of the transaction. It is as important as the slots and will take time to develop.

Finally, the value of the Delta pilot’s participation in this process should not be lost on anyone.

The entire corporate executive team knew of our involvement on the political side of getting the slot swap approved. From the Board of Directors, to senior leadership, corporate communications, and Flight Operations leadership, there was little if any mention of the role we played in assisting on the political side of the transaction. Delta’s senior executive team could have, and should have, better communicated in advance how the slot swap was going to be implemented.

Really? The alleged additional revenue SHOULD support significant contract improvements?
You bet! Surely our participation coupled with the alleged revenue increase will be noted by management and our "significant" improvements will come. Right? Dang! I was so hopeful. These council 44 guys that wrote this letter sound like the Stockholm Syndrome is wearing on them. I appreciate their efforts in communicating, but this is embarrassing. Constructive engagement just died here folks. Does management have to actually come over and drive a stake through its heart to prove it to you? When our union makes excuses for this, it makes us all look weak. Carl |

Figured I would share this:
Council 44 Slot Swap Perspective Prior to your C44 reps taking office, the corporation had already approached ALPA to ask for help and support for this transaction. After we assumed our elected positions, we were asked to intensify our efforts, as there appeared to be little progress being made in the corporation’s favor. Although we all want to work for a strong, profitable company, and no doubt the transaction would assist in that, we also wanted to know the impact this would have on Delta pilots directly. In other words, would this mean more flying for mainline pilots? The answer then was yes. |

As with everything, if the pilot go gravitate to the next shiny ball, and do not continually state their discontent with what the company did here, then nothing will ever by gained. NOTHING from the MEC that states in no uncertain terms, "We were used. We will not let this happen again. We are done rolling over. Saddle up for a bloody fight on C2012." Instead...crickets. Weak, impotent crickets. Another abdication of leadership. Time for a new bargaining agent. |

What 3 things do all NW pilots have that RD pilots don't 1. Free uniform (merger) 2. 20% pay raise (merger) 3. Rejection letter from Delta Air Lines Before people get too nuts..I'm just kidding. We are lucky to have merged with Northwest. I heard that one the other day and had to share. Now back to writing "call to action letters "so alpa can increase flying for our conncection partners. Go Rangers! |
When I got to number 3, I wasn't laughing....when I read the qualifying paragraph, finally got it. I admit, it is funny....:):):)

S.A.Y.L. = Safety At Your Leisure or, S.T.Y.T = Safety Take Your Time At least that's the way it is when it comes to pilots. As I recall, a few Air Traffic Controllers fall asleep at the desk and their rules are changed in a month or so. . The Colgan accident occurred almost 3 years ago and we have to wait another two years for the resulting "new rules for safety" to be implemented. |
RJs taking all the new slots in LGA? Eddie I wouldn't be more surprised if I woke up tomorrow with my head stapled to the carpet
