My problem with the delta dental insurance is finding a decent dentist. The good ones including the one we went to for years does not take our insurance.
According to my old dentist malpractice for him was extremely low, seems like they must make a fortune compared to other doctors. I know they have the highest suicide rates and all but honestly, a lot of them drive me nuts.
One wanted me to have my wisdom teeth removed, so I went to the surgeon and he said don't do it. Not worth it, not hurting you and you'll be fine... and he'd made money off of it and he said no. 5 years later still no problems. That's when I became convinced if you tell me $4K for dental work, I'll go buy some oragel. Kind of like my grandmother, they wanted to do $3K of work (all out of pocket) on one tooth, she had them pull it for like $100.
I feel like dentistry is a bit of a racket. Sit here, oh wait, we need to do this absolutely today, $450, we must do it. No. No? What do you mean no? I'm going to shop around, don't believe you, do the free stuff and bye.

I'd get a second opinion on a cavity. Anything greater maybe a third. Oh also same thing on a wisdom tooth like 15 years ago. Its gotta be pulled. Why? Because it exists, duh. Um, no thanks. 15 years later no issues at all.
Trust but verify.
Yeah I was out of town once and went to a different dentist for a cleaning. When I woke up my pants were unbuttoned. Srsly though, he said I had a cavity and he could go ahead and take care of it. I declined, not sure why but he seemed a little too eager to do it so I balked. OK bad analogy cause that would mean I just gave him second base. You know what I mean. Anyway I go back to my regular dentist at the next scheduled time 6 months later...its X ray day too...and I don't say anything about the "cavity" and he doesn't say anything either. 8 or 9 years of regular exams and X rays and 2 dentists later no one's ever mentioned it. That dude just wanted to drill me. In the mouth I mean. In my tooth I mean. That lying liar.

I was just at a New Year's Eve party with a whole bunch of Doctors. In fact, me and a Judge were the only non-doctors there.
You should have heard all the complaining, sounded like a bunch of pilots in the lounge, crying about RJ's and J/V's!
Meidcaid/ Medicare co-pay was the subject, Obama care, etc. and how much more the Pharmacitical reps make, and about insurance companies not re-paying them 'enough', etc. but the thing that struck me as the most funny was, they all want their kids to go into...Dentistry!
"That's where the REAL money is..." they all said!
Too funny! Oh, the driveway and road out front was covered with several new Mercedes, and one Range Rover, I rolled up my wife's 2004 Suburban...
Great food, great booze, all free...well...I guess not totally free, as the only way I know some of these guys is through visits to their office!
The next day I get a phone call, one of the wives from the party wants a 2 buddy passes, to Paris, to take the little princess shopping, to buy a Purse.
Seems that particular purse is only sold in Paris.
I kid you not.

So, I told my 18yr. old son, "Be a Dentist..."

I went to a new dentist in Florida for a cleaning. He started by doing an x-ray, but not a normal x-ray. It was a thorough one. A separate picture for just about every tooth. He then proceeded to tell me that I grind my teeth and he wanted to sell me a $500 mouth guard to wear in my sleep. He said it would save me thousands later in life. I said, "no thanks, are you going to clean my teeth?" He said the dental hygienist wasn't in. I would have to make a separate appointment. I left and never went back. Went to a dentist 6 months later that was recommended to me. The x-rays were taken in about 5 minutes, then they cleaned my teeth. I was in and out in about 40 minutes. I ended up getting about $90 worth of bills from that x-ray session. Still ****es me off.

I read about the Crew Resources update here several hours BEFORE it arrived in my email. I hope you don't so easily jump to conclusions when evaluating all your prospective "business ventures."

If a pilot is displaced from a base even though he could hold different equipment in that base, is he still entitled to a paid move? For example, a MSP DC9 pilot is displaced to ATL (through MD bid) even though the MSP DC9 pilot could have displaced to other equipment at MSP?
How long do you have to move after displacement? Tried reading Sec 6. It references 12 months but others are telling me 24 months? Which is it?
