Not that he was prognosticating furloughs, but the capacity pull downs seem to have no logical end in sight :(

In that case, we should be lucky to take a 10% pay cut, anything even remotely higher like a 2% pay cut is a tremendous win on our part. Holy cow, could you imagine a 2% pay increase? We'd be lucky to get that, I guess we could give up scope or something. Really I think getting everyone keyed up for furloughs is wise especially given the pending retirements, additional MD-90s, wishy wash plans for the DC-9, 100 new 739s and an unknown situation with AMR in chapter 11.

Who does this guy work for again?

It wasn't spin. The comment was in Q&A and was extemporaneous. Earlier the day it was mentioned that American's management had taken pay concessions off the table in their bankruptcy bargaining and was offering 1.5% pay raises. (American also proposed some really bad scope, which was effectively Delta scope with the limits at 86 seats and 255 large jets, or half mainline).

What has me a little confused is the idea of making 2bn in 2012 while cutting employees.

Again I ask: "What is our core business?" "Then why don't we invest in that?"

Hey, FTB, take it to the DPA thread, man! That's out of line here!

FTB said nothing about DPA. I completely disagree that his comments are out of line for this thread. We're discussing Delta. And an individual who serves on a very important committee in our representational association never has anything positive to say about the prospects of getting significant pay increases/restoration. There are legitimate facts that support our getting large increases. But this individual chooses to ignore or downplay (or is it slowplay?) those facts. I think it's a problem worth discussing in the "Latest & Greatest about Delta."

That's funny because I've had people tell me they met Carl. When I asked who Carl was, it's always a different 747 guy. I guess some guys will claim to be anyone to help them pick up women. :D

Can someone explain what "73 points" means?

That's good news traffic wise because we've been running capacity rather tight...

We may disagree on many things Bar, but I do admire your turn of phrase.

Very funny stuff.
