Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

....the age old playbooks of failed management teams that consistently run great airlines into the ground...
Flunky: "Here it is, Sir." (blows dust off cover)
CEO: "Hmmm...the trusty #25Z double-reverse will do nicely."
Flunky: "But Sir, that one always leads to a disaster!"
CEO: "For whom? Not us, Har Har!"
Flunky: "Oh, I get it! Then your successor will be in the mess."
CEO: "Not if he follows the Age Old Playbook."

In that case, we should be lucky to take a 10% pay cut, anything even remotely higher like a 2% pay cut is a tremendous win on our part. Holy cow, could you imagine a 2% pay increase? We'd be lucky to get that, I guess we could give up scope or something. Really I think getting everyone keyed up for furloughs is wise especially given the pending retirements, additional MD-90s, wishy wash plans for the DC-9, 100 new 739s and an unknown situation with AMR in chapter 11.

Hey all, just stayed at the short layover hotel at DCA and used my credit card for my meal at the bar and discovered some company called Vocus... Cloud-based Marketing and PR Software - Vocus charged $869 to my credit card that same day. This company is based in the area. Watch your statements.

Reserve utilization.
Low historic reserve utilization means the required reserves are lower. Lower required reserves means less people are required. Less people required means less people. Less people means more stagnation.

A lot of the abuse could be fixed simply by eliminating the swap board. I know that statement fits into some people's plan like a cold, cold wind blowing through and wiping out the stuff they've gotten addicted to. But the reason we had to go to the board in the first place was that Sawp with the Pot had become completely useless due to the abuse of Reserves Required formulas by the company. So the unintended consequence of having a poor system to swap with open time, has been to allow pilots to fly much, much (much) more than max pick-up.
A good Swap with the Pot, with rational restrictions, would keep everyone honest at or below max pick-up, and wouldn't allow those that whaure for the flying to add insult to injury by trashing the staffing.
I know this very idea infuriates a bunch of people, but at some point in your career, you've got to look around, realize your friends are turning tricks, with white stuff on their nose, and you've got to wonder if it wouldn't be better if we could get our dignity (and our staffing) back.

No no no!
This is the "Private Hershnickelfritz took an extra danish in the chow line! Everybody has to do push ups" approach.
Relatively simple modifications to the rules would fix the trip parking issue.

My buddy is a ATL 767 guy on reserve. He was lecturing his H.S. kid the other morning about the kid's lack of motivation concerning his school work. His son said he wanted an easy job like his, an airline pilot. He took offense, explained the job was hard work and told him to go to school.
Then he said it dawned on him he gave the lecture while laying in bed. Day 5 and he hadn't done anything but shoot squirrels, played on the internet and kicked the soccer ball around.![Big Grin](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
