I'm sure they'd give back scope before they'd allow manning to increase. Manning to increase. Manning. Sorry Tim, I don't mean to say Manning.
A fix that may work is the bow wave, where guys could fly to ALV+20 six months a year but those extra five hours had to be banked and not paid. Max in your bank for this purpose would be 30 hrs in a year or 40 hrs total. Ergo, you would have to use 20 hrs in the bank to get the full effect of six months of ALV+20 the following year. It would allow guys on jets with longer trips to pick up that trip, but in a different month use their bank to fill up instead of flying. Capping the bank for these purposes means you limit the ability and the effect on staffing since the time would have to be banked then used. If it was not used the bank limits forbid future pickups to ALV+20 because the extra time could not be added to the bank.

It is the best staffing neutral solution I have come up with that meets the needs of guys that want to pick up time but can't due to rotation length.

Thoughts?

Is there a way to identify those who are doing this?
Time to go to work with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch.
There is a fix, and it will be implemented by IT nlt than late summer.

As it was explained in the C44 LEC meeting today.

Unfortunately I found like 25 folks that could be him-OMG is that DTW 744 category tight on hiring and retirement dates! Like everyone flying it is from a 1 year window of life!

Anyways, it was actually an enjoyable hour of looking at seniority and hiring/retirement dates for a category I'll never see. There's something about the stalker biz that everyone digs heh... you know it's true.

It just occurred to me that I might have met Ferd the morning of the 7th going to work, before boarding. PM me if that was you, always need to figure out the local guys!

Hmm, one more point. Last 3 Capts I flew with were happy with 20% and "scope just isn't that critical to my stage in life". Getting a bit bummed that scope may be a complete FO cause...
They say that until you tell them that scope is 21 Virgin Australia frequencies a week to the us versus our 7 to SYD, and a because it is a revenue sharing deal and not a profit sharing deal (AF) there does not need to be a production balance implemented, just status quo. Then show them how this is so in the contract and then they all of a sudden start to see that Section 1 is not just for junior pilots anymore.

Show them the growth markets and what another Virgin Australia deal could mean without section 1 changes. Gets their attention quickly.

My kids are starting to get irritated because I cramp their style when I'm home this much.
My buddy is a ATL 767 guy on reserve. He was lecturing his H.S. kid the other morning about the kid's lack of motivation concerning his school work. His son said he wanted an easy job like his, an airline pilot. He took offense, explained the job was hard work and told him to go to school.

Then he said it dawned on him he gave the lecture while laying in bed. Day 5 and he hadn't done anything but shoot squirrels, played on the internet and kicked the soccer ball around.

I will have some. I think I like it but I have to read it again and again but my eyes are all messed up from the snoop lyrics.

I think I'm the first guy in my category to reach bucket 2 with this new reserve system. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I would take last month's reserve system in a heartbeat.
