The bucket system is nothing more than a tie breaker. There are still a bunch of random variables that determine who gets assigned trips. Some of the most senior pilots have the highest raw scores while some of the most junior pilots have the lowest raw scores. The raw bucket only breaks a tie so if you are senior bidding reserve with the hopes of not flying good luck, you will need it.

Wrong Chewbacca, raw 0-80 the junior guy in your group of days gets the trip. Its hard to get a trip if you have 10-12 guys ahead of you everyday of the week.

I flew my first 2 reserve days in January, then I didn't fly again. In February under new system, I flew my first 9 days. Now I probably won't fly again as I'm in bucket 2. I'd say that's a significant change. I am now going to avoid reserve at all cost. Unfortunately, I won't be senior enough to do that for about 3-4 years unless I bid NYC.

Sounds like you were enjoying some significant out-of-seniority QOL for many years.

Distance Learning ?
For the gurus,
My seniority has returned me to the mighty mad dog after a brief (3 month) stint on the 800. Got the training letter, but it didn't mention 90 differences training so I'm trying to track down if I need to complete it, again. I remember there being somewhere in i- or e-crew where you could check distance learning "assigned but not completed" but it escapes me now. Can anyone point me to it? Thanks! |

Maybe I just learned how to work the system. The system has now changed and is harder to work for junior pilots.
Fast forward 20 years (assuming we're all still here). Do you still want the junior pilot to be able to "work the system" at your expense? |

But shouldn't it be that way?

It wasn't really working the system. It was just bidding weekends off and everyone taking a turn at flying. You flew a trip, went to the back of the line. Now you fly a trip, jump to the front of the line, fly another trip, and keep doing that until you get into bucket 2. I will say I probably have a line in March due to the new system so it's good in that way.
:D If seniority does not matter then use the above link. |

Mine didn't show correctly till the end of the month. It had BOTH the shadow trip and the OE trip and I thought I was going to be RICH:D
But, of course they figured it out..........you will get the OE trip or the shadow trip (which ever is greater - assuming they touch). Clear as mud? Ferd |
