WRT any speculation about "opportunities", maybe it's a good idea to curb our enthusiasm a bit, because 1) we have a funny way of being on the wrong end of "opportunities" when the dust actualy clears, and 2) some of the opportunities have a way of not being funny to everyone.
As for the first point, I think it's self-explanatory. If something is needed from us, and it's purchased from us, then it's something worth giving, and it's usually hard to gauge the value of both ends of the transaction. Usually, time reveals the suckers, and it's seldom the other side. As for the second point, I still remember UsAirways' attempt to "make Delta their Delta", and a lot of those guys were promptly revealed for the toolbags they were being. Remember your [deleted] LCC pilot "friend" that talked gleefully about getting their 777 books? Then, in reverse, there was the JAL deal, where we speculating publicly about how we were going to fly their 747's, and the little bit of payback when AMR privately lobbied hard against our slot swap with LCC. And of course, we speculated much about the slot swap itself, and how we were going to fly their stuff, and (aren't we all red in the face?) it turns out WestJet and DCI have us covered. Personally I'd just as soon speculate about the opener, than engage in a round of totally premature high-fives, as I remember this is a public forum. Rain ---> Parade. |

We're so starved for communication, this throwaway email has guys lined up to buy a yacht and move to Miami. If DALPA gets the contract we demand, AND NOT BEFORE, I will be first in line to eat that crow. We're a LONG way from that right now.
