Reading between the lines, I think so. The opener will tell but......looks pretty strong and positive.

Lets see. AMR just filed a petition for a hearing on extending their time for a reorganization plan for six more months. That hearing is March 22. We meet on the 13th.

It may not be American but their actions and the actions of the Japanese government are compressing the companies timeline. (just two of many issues but two of the top issues)

I saw the email from the MEC, thought it was very good. I'm looking forward to the opener - it will be interesting to see how the hopes of all the pilots are converted into a contract opener.

Sailing is correct it will be released to the pilots shortly after the company sees it. Do not expect to see hourly rates et al. It is a conceptual opener, and that means it has broad, but forceful points to it.

I wasn't as eloquent as you were, but you have a point: we were both advising caution. I was using high-fives as a metaphor, and you were using something else, but I see your point.

I don't remember suggesting we had low expectations because of this. But... tell you what: I won't disagree just for the sake of arguing. Those who want to go to sleep feeling all warm and fuzzy about all kinds of free raises are free to do so, and the rest of us will have to make do with with one eye open, their fingers crossed, and whatever needs puckering... puckered up.

That's about all the gross metaphors I can handle for a while.

Underboob, please. And a good night to all.

We get an email stating a bunch of "maybes" and we're going ape sh!t. Talk about a group with unbelievably lowered expectations. We're so starved for communication, this throwaway email has guys lined up to buy a yacht and move to Miami.

If DALPA gets the contract we demand, AND NOT BEFORE, I will be first in line to eat that crow. We're a LONG way from that right now.

So in the words of Mr. Wolf, "Let's not start sucking each others' d!cks quite yet."

Bacon;
Its not pathetic, it is our MEC and our Chairman stating that they are ready to open and early. The MEC meeting concluded today and they finalized direction. Our team is ready to negotiate on your behalf.

You will also see the opener and it is will be phase two of their statement.

I was knocking the general celebratory atmosphere as "pathetic." There is nothing to celebrate.

Calling for crow to be eaten at this early stage is ridiculous.

When I read the opener, I will appreciate it.

But we need to keep our eye on the ball. The final product is what counts.

(2) Or, they desire some sort of scope liberalization to get a deal done. That could be a small jet order, a fragmentation of AA, or something like Hawaiian.

FWIW, Hawaiian makes as much sense as Alaska, at a whole lot more favorable price point.

FWIW (note 2), it would not surprise me to learn the Reps are not completely read in on what the core of the MEC Admin has been working on. Not saying this is going on, just saying that a Moak style fait accompli would not surprise me.

Expedited is great, but not at the expense of goals of our group. Agree, with you 100% on both 1 and 2.

How "High Tech" is the 9 sim? Is it old school, two axis, video visuals?

Or is it a brand new, full motion, computer driven, 3 axis, 6 hydrolic jacks, CGI visuals, etc. like the newer sims? If it's "Old School" they can probably unbolt it, load it on a truck, drive it to ATL and have it installed and up and running in about a week.

The newest one is aMD80 Sim they converted back to a DC 9, that is the one they will probably move.

From the letter:

We believe opportunities exist—right now—to reach a comprehensive agreement on an expedited timeline, but let me make this point perfectly clear. While we will attempt to expedite the process, we will not compromise the product.

Perhaps you aren't remembering that Carl said we wouldn't see the opener. That's all the crow is about.

The letter was well written and had the right amount of forcefulness for a "Eve of Section 6" letter.

The positions made like the one you quoted above should make pilots hopeful that we get the deal we rightfully deserve.
