True, but the argument has been made that we won't achieve any MORE than we ask for. Why would the company offer MORE pay or BETTER scope than we asked for in the opener?
This is why guys are so rabid about seeing the opener. It sets a high water mark for the best we'll be able to do. And everyone has to expect that we will have to come to the middle, just like management will. So the answer is, we should ALL care. If we come in and ask for status quo on scope, or a 5% raise, the company will probably say DEAL! Of course we can vote down a crappy TA, but I think most guys want to be encouraged by our opener and solidify their belief (my opinion) that our NC and MEC won't send down a crappy contract for vote. Having talked to the reps and the chair of the NC, I am confident they will not send us a piece of crap to vote on. I have left every one of those conversations/phone calls/emails feeling much better than I did before the conversation. They get it. Time will tell... |

You're embarrassing yourself.
I'll leave it to others to decide how close my recollection was. Carl

Unreal. You don't even remember what I've written. But I'm glad you're happy with this new "concept".
Carl Yes, Carl is right and everyone else is wrong. Give it a rest Carl. GJ |
I think some of us are getting a little excited prematurely about this opener. Lets see where the road takes us. Don't buy that new car just yet fellas.

And sadly, there are others who graduated with a perfect score in the rocking chair. Those alumni take the smallest bit of news and believe it proves that the company loves you after all!
Yes t...the company loves you. They're only looking out for your best interests. You are family. Carl GJ P.S. What's the definition of insanity again? |

More "false analysis" Carl? That's not surprising coming from someone who has continued to be proven wrong, but still won't admit it.

Here's my blunt prediction. DAL, NWA and the new DAL will not grow. They will shrink. They will have to. Every single airline is presently TOO BIG. Gary Kelly is the only one that seems to be admitting it thus far.
Carl Wasn't it you Carl that was bashing Sailing/Slowplay, just a 100 posts ago or so, about "Delta liquidating"? Funny thing about it Carl, you too felt that was the correct action when you wrote it the first time. Not now I guess when you have to always contradict what the "organization" is doing? Again, give it a rest for a while, everyone else has moved on, it's time for you to do the same. GJ |

Not everyone Gearjerk. Just you and your other rocking chair victim.

I've been trying to interpret the PWA on this, and can't find the right section.
If I bid ATLDC9B with an AE, I will incur a training freeze. Got that part so far. If/when they actually start parking 9's and shrinking the category, can I then VD out (in place of a junior MD) instead of being one of the last in the dying category? Or am I stuck because of the freeze? Basically, can one VD even while frozen? I gather that if the junior pilot can't hold something that I want (and can hold) then it doesn't matter, as I have to use his seniority to VD into a category. Is that right? I'm just trying to look 10 threats down the road here, and not end up a whipping boy on the 9 in a tiny/shrinking category - at least voluntarily. You have it right. You CAN VD while frozen but you don't get to use your seniority. You use the seniority of the junior pilot whose displacement you are volunteering to take. The contract reference is 22A8c. Freeze means you are "ineligible to be awarded another AE..." ATL DC-9 will probably see some guys bidding in there for the future mandatory displacement. It will be an easy way to get a free paid move since the category is pretty much guaranteed to close in 2013. If someone wants to move their household across the country in the future, this will be one way to do it. Depending how much furniture you have, that could be worth big bucks. Easily enough to cover the pay difference between M88 or 73N and DC9 for one year. |
