So....with the March 13th opener being presented to the pilot group, is their are solid chance that pay rates will be included in that opener presentation?

I know there has been alot of back and forth with this in the last few pages, and I'm not all that interested in DPA vs. DALPA discussion, just some realistic perspective if we could expect some actual information from the opener that discusses potential pay increases/salary improvements.
Or is the March 13th opener announcement really just focused on piecemeal stepping stones of contractual improvements.

Exactly!

Let's see what they can do. If it sucks, then we can bring out the torches and pitchforks, but at least give 'em a chance first.

My opinion:
There is absolutely NO WAY that pay rates will be included in the opener. It will likely say something about increased compensation without mentioning rates or percentage increases.

It will probably conceptualize the sections of the contract with specific subsections for breakout improvements.

IMO, if scope (section 1) doesn't mention RECAPTURING flying, you, me, we need to write our reps with some strong direction. Pay is a very, very secondary issue.

FWIW, Hawaiian makes as much sense as Alaska, at a whole lot more favorable price point.

FWIW (note 2), it would not surprise me to learn the Reps are not completely read in on what the core of the MEC Admin has been working on. Not saying this is going on, just saying that a Moak style fait accompli would not surprise me.

" If we buy Hawaiian/Alaska, we can move all that flying to ATL and have the other-Alaska/Hawaiian- pick up the west coast stuff! Awesome."

Sorry, 1st cup of joe.

BINGO! To me this will be the most telling part of the "conceptual" opener.

Better pay rates would be nice, SCOPE IS MUST.

VD Freeze?

I've been trying to interpret the PWA on this, and can't find the right section.

If I bid ATLDC9B with an AE, I will incur a training freeze. Got that part so far.

If/when they actually start parking 9's and shrinking the category, can I then VD out (in place of a junior MD) instead of being one of the last in the dying category? Or am I stuck because of the freeze? Basically, can one VD even while frozen?

I gather that if the junior pilot can't hold something that I want (and can hold) then it doesn't matter, as I have to use his seniority to VD into a category. Is that right?

I'm just trying to look 10 threats down the road here, and not end up a whipping boy on the 9 in a tiny/shrinking category - at least voluntarily.

Or is it a brand new, full motion, computer driven, 3 axis, 6 hydrolic jacks, CGI visuals, etc. like the newer sims? If it's "Old School" they can probably unbolt it, load it on a truck, drive it to ATL and have it installed and up and running in about a week.

Heyas Timbo,

All four DC-9 sims were re-hosted about 8-10 years ago with new visuals, computers and control systems. They are all 6 jack full motion systems. They are quite nice, and are probably the best DC-9 sims in existence.

One of the sims has the panoramic visual system.

They also have 2 DC-9 ground trainers that are state of the art touch screen systems with full visuals. I was really wowed by them when I looked at them last time I was at NATCO...they were really cool.

Heyas Bar,

Where I live, it is VERY difficult to get anyone to do business. Sellers are asking too much, and buyers aren't offering enough. No one wants to meet in the middle.

Normal rental property can't move because you can't buy the property low enough to cover the nut from the depressed rents, even if you pay cash.

This end of the business has a long way to go, IMHO...
