Yeah that sounds good. The weather is so nice in ATL. All my neighbors are firing up their grills. Just sounded like a great idea. Maybe when this ear blockage goes away I will fire up the grill and cook a few Texas T Bones!

Don't the Canadians & some Minnesotans consider that a suit?

As I contimplate a MD88 training event in my future, I ran across this. Just seems to fit. This must be for the school zone next to the San Diego FSDO.

New routes like HNL FUK might be a glimpse of how that may pan out.
There might be more to gain with Asia Pacific, some of the largest growth market would be in easy reach and might make up for the loss of the Japanese market.

Think HNL ICN, HNL KIX, HNL SYD, HNL PEK, HNL HKG, HNL SIN...

Not to rain on your parade, but there is no way that would work. Most of those routes are served by other airlines, and also have direct to US service. If we lost the Japan hub, it would be an enormous blow to our network and to the company. Someday, the 787 will allow overflights of Japan for some of our current connecting routes, but the 5th freedom rights that allow for us to sell tickets in and out of Japan to Asia is really a revenue leader right now.

You can rest assured that plans are being drawn up which address this contingency.

Latest and Greatest About Delta lately:

I'd used a pic of the aftermath of a bomb blast at a bar but for obvious reasons those would be extremely tacky.

On that note:

1. Remember to bid for your month,
2. Remember to bid around ATLM88B for your AE unless you want an itch you can't scratch,
3. Hot women are fun to look at, and
4. Rollin down the street smokin endo sippin on gin n juice is not a wise use of your time.

Peace.

No parade here...
NRT is a vital Hub for Delta.

The concern is what happens if JAL and ANA get more HND slots...

You're contemplating an "airplane" solution...
I'm contemplating a "network" solution...

The airplane solution is year's away, so a near term solution is bound to be in the works...that's all.

In the end Japan is one country with saturated service, while the Asia Pacific is a developing growth market in the same way South America is. Opportunity lost can be opportunity gained somewhere else.

Whatever the outcome, my hope is it involves more Delta pilots...

Cheers
George

No, our FOM states that "Business casual attire or uniform" for flight deck jumpseaters, so technically the FOM was being violated. Now one might argue that if they were in the back, that's not the flight deck and they could wear whatever. But I think it's pretty clear that trying to jumpseat in jeans is frowned upon.

However, I almost got trapped in a situation where I was thinking of jumpseating in jeans. I left for the airport with my wife and daughter to non-rev back home. 2 hours before the flight, there were 18 out of 70 seats open. Pretty good huh? Nope - after the revenue was boarded, 1 seat open. Overflow from another flight. Had there been another seat, I would of nicely asked the Captain if I could jumpseat, even as I was in jeans. It would be that or make a risky connection with a 2 year old. I know the rules but sometimes things happen. We ended up having to take another flight, not enough seats.

ps. I had dockers in my bag, but I checked it. Agent said, "oh yeah, you'll get on no problem..."

I got stuck in Hawaii and had forgot to pack a pair of dress pant's in case the flights filled up and I needed to jump seat home. Sure enough the flights filled up and I made a stop at the department store prior to going to the airport to pick up a pair of dress pants. I just don't feel right going up and asking knowing that I'm not adhering to the guidelines.

On the other hand, no captain I have flown with has said no to a js'er due to them wearing jeans and if I ever upgrade I won't deny someone for wearing jeans if they are otherwise appropriately dressed and nice.

Now now... cut the big man a little slack. After all, HE's been on strike. That right there automatically makes his opinion not only extremely valuable, but one that the rest should take without question, and because he KNOWS what success is all about. He told the company to stuff it and walked out the door. And... he flies Super DUPER Premium. That makes him a better pilot than ANYBODY else, because as we all know there are only about 5000 of those airplanes ever built, and it is a skill set that only the best of the best of the best (with honors) could ever hope to fly...

More experienced
Better skillset
We're not worthy

Oh, and I have a rocking chair on my front porch. Nice to listen to a little Allison Krauss while cleaning my squirrel gun...

Do you have a pair of Miss Me jeans also? Tell me you are not one of those guys that wears the jeans with the cute little designs on the back pocket, with maybe some flaps for extra flair.

The jeans thing is silly as my $200 7s look better than $40 Dockers.
