I think you are on to something here. Delta wants 50's parked ASAP, but probably not the ones coming off leases in the next few years, but the Pinnacle and SkyWest ones that have up to ten more years left. To park them outright will cost DAL a butt load of money. I would venture to guess it is well over a billion dollars in the DCI agreements termination clauses, and Bombardier's early lease termination provisions. If DAL were asking for more 76 seat jets, I am sure there is already an agreement in principle with the DCI carriers and Bombardier on some sort of ratio to re-negotiate the DCI contracts and Bombardier forgiving the early termination penalties.
I also assume the 319/717's would take over the 50 seat flying on a 2.5-1 ratio of block hrs, with a slight up tick in ASM's company wide. If they park what is rumored you would be looking at at least a 30% cut in DCI block hrs, with immediate hiring at mainline. All of this is rumor, but if the downside language is there, this one is going to be almost impossible to stop. So when do you all think the MEC will see an agreement? |

PM sent.
It sounds like a few 76 seaters in exchange for a massive scope recapture in all areas. If that is to belived |

Yes, how proud you must be of your beloved ALPA. They do the wrong thing, are found guilty by a jury, and have all motions to vacate DENIED by the judge. But do you write one sentence of regret for your beloved ALPA having done the wrong thing? Not a chance. Instead, brag about how your beloved ALPA can drag it out for 10 years. Do you even stop to think for a moment the moral high ground that ALPA loses when they behave every bit as badly as the most corrupt corporate sharks? Unreal.

Yes Carl, it makes me chuckle. It's FAR from over. There still has to be a hearing for damages. Then they'll likely be appeals. These trials can take 10 years. Not to mention that DPA leaves out the fact that an assessment must be approved by a member vote. Instead, they choose to imply that ALPA will just swoop in and take $30,000 out of our checks.

I have heard that ALPA is paying the America West pilots' lawyers. Can anyone verify this statement?

What you're forgetting is that Pinnacle is currently in bankruptcy, with DAL being the debtor in possession. Most FPD agreements can be terminated in bankruptcy without the usual penalties applying. I personally think the 9E bankruptcy IS the opportunity that is making DAL so hot to negotiate. They will use it to park the ~165 CRJ-200s at 9E and XJ. First, though, they're going to try to get DALPA to give up some extra 76-seaters for something they're already going to do. Just my opinion... we'll see what happens.
Go read what has come out of the ch11 proceedings. One thing that irked me was the agreement to park 50's for 70+ seat jets on a one for one going forward. There is a AWST article that details this that was published a month ago. All of this is a fun exercise but what may be where things are headed may not what you see in a final agreement with the company(DALPA PWA negotiations). The final TA may look vastly different than the rumors, and we all need to remember to not get worked up over rumors. (using this post and not directing this at you) |
