Agreed...its stupid. What cracks me up is some CA's don't know what they're looking at when they're responding. First time they've looked up there in years.

We did the challenge and response "parking check" but it flowed better.

I talked to a guy who said there are "boxes" of stuff maked "best practices" we will get post SOC. I think things will smooth out then, but all change is always hard. I make fun, but that is all it is, just change and we will all be happy when we get used to the new ways and can't remember how we "used to do it". I've heard 80/20 on the change ratio.......who knows.

Speaking of checklists.......this is nothing. When I was at ATC (not AETC) Stan/Eval, a fighter pilot vs a MAC guy vs a SAC guy trying to come up with a procedure was a thing to behold..........this is nothing

You're correct on the 80/20 change ratio. That was the initial target, and at the last LCA meeting they said it was very close to that. I defintiely feel for you guys with the massive amount of procedures and policies you're having to adapt to. Apparently after SOC, we'll slowly go through and end up with some more mixed practices instead of just settling on one side's day of doing things or the other. The idea being to actually make the best possible procedures out of what each of our carriers did prior to the merger.

The first day we did the challenge and response shutdown check, the CA was totally lost the first few times. I ended up handing him the card before calling out the check so he could know the responses, haha.

Have the DC-9 FO's figured out how to reach over and hold those start switches across the cockpit yet?

So true Ferd. I was at HQ MAC when we rolled in all the tankers and became AMC. Just getting those two cultures together was a handful. This is nothing. Although, I have to admit, you guys are taking the brunt of the changes so far. The little stuff we're changing is noise level.

Thats a great question! Are the switches on the -88/90 in the same place?

As far as a capt knowing the response............I always tell guys "I know the questions, I don't know the answers"

I was just watching the LMS stuff online and was thinking the same thing as far as the FO's starting the engines. That plane was built around the Captain and its just ergonomically not set up for the FO to start the motors imho. Cant wait....

Yeah the start switches are in the same place in the 88 as the 9... it's not all that hard.

I reached with the left hand to hold the start switch and twisted and used my right hand on the fuel control. Others do the opposite.

My sim session is this week.

I think it can't be any worse then rolling out of a turn while leveling off & pushing up the thrust all at the same time. Sometimes I even have the spoilers out just to make it a little more challenging.
