I'm missing something. If our capacity is going to be down another 3-4% why would we be getting a bunch of 717's that are supposedly growth airframes?

Spoke to a LEC rep buddy of mine who has been in & out of meetings all week with the negotiators and apparently the MEC has decided to have the release of the TA to the pilot group coincide with post 100,000 of this thread.

Either we will continue to shrink (with little or no career progression for most us) or the RJs are about to face another rounds of cuts - or both. Find it impossible to believe mainline will grow anytime soon with this announcement. If we give in on scope we are not only ruining it for ourselves but it will set a very dangerous precedent for AA and UAL/CAL to follow.

Delta used to have seasonal cuts before the Skyteam Alliance to Europe every Winter. The layovers were a lot longer, but the flights were trimmed to about 4 a week. I don't think these cuts are year round, instead over the slower Winter season. Still sucks for the NYC pilots. Maybe there will be more Carribbean or South America flying for them. Or, they all will be in training for 717 upgrade or 717 downgrade....(maybe)
