With the Company's growth in Seattle, I'd be leaning this way too. Property values in the Seattle Metro area depend on your perspective. If you are coming from Southern California, they may not seem so bad. If you are coming from Peachtree City etc., they are going to seem quite high. The further out you go the more reasonable property is. There are areas where you can get deals but you probably wouldn't want to live there. I know a good realtor who can help. And if she doesn't know the area, she can find someone who does.
Good Luck to the newbies!

While there is no income tax in Washington, there is a 8.6 - 9.2% sales tax depending on the municipality.

It's definitely a QOL decision. Commute or pay big bucks. Or live in base in DTW, MSP, ATL or CVG. If PTC is rich for you, SEA and LAX will blow you away. Especially on new hire pay. Honestly, I don't know how some FOs do it. It's a struggle in SoCal.

Funny thing!
Just converted to SEA 11/1 after a 5 year commute! Now the wife wants to head back to Cali! Not because of the weather but a good job! Just glad I never sold my house in Santa Barbara!
Mikef16, there are some great areas outside of Seattle I would look into. Coming from SoCal I was shocked at how expensive Seattle prices are, you just have to avoid the hitech areas on the Eastside and that ritzy area where Denny lives. He used to buy beer but now he is a 330 guy and only buys when the market is up! I swear the last time I had a beer with him he was digging in a change purse for the tip!
