Congrats, Indy! If you end up on the 88, I'll look forward to flying with you!

I agree!! That was my point! My skins fine, I wasn't offended!

BTW, if you knew the story behind my friend, his "professional" nature wouldn't even be a discussion item. His comment, which surprised me and why I referenced it, related to the relative harmony between the labor groups and management. The corporation is, in his estimation, a team working toward common goals...together. It sounds like that's not very common in the industry and has strategic consequences...that's all.

Getting to know the two guys sent away from my group, and how high caliber they were is the reason for my deduction that Delta is looking for something more that being a good dude and a good pilot. I do not pretend to know the secret. All I know is, the DAL interview was tough. It took me a lot of work to be ready. From what I saw, even that might not be enough.

Glad I made it.
Don't worry Indy, you have many valid points!! I admire people that work hard for what they want and, you sound like you are one of them!! Delta is a great airline! I'm sure you will be very happy with your choice! I guess where I came across "thin skinned" was the comment your buddy has about UAL! I was former CAL and the merger has been tough! (lots of dirty laundry just like I'm sure you will hear on line at DAL!) I am a firm believer if you don't like something, DO something about it! Don't just sit there and complain and tell everyone how bad it is!! Yes, our managers do some lame things but it doesn't effect how I perform my job, it just frustrates me!! So if I was your friend and knew what an asset you would be to my company, I would actively recruit you. Not tell you to go to the competition!! Don't take my post as anything more than sticking up for UAL, because those 2 "great guys" maybe reading this forum and I want them to come over to UAL!! Again Congrats on your new job!! I'm sure it's a relief to have over and you'll have a BLAST!

No problem Really,
In fact, my friend was/is recruiting me very hard. He was very angry that United hasn't called me yet and Delta did.

I sincerely wish you and UAL luck as the merger comes to completion.

Your friend sounds like a DB.

I prefer hotels. . Wasn't bagging on him, just his DB friend who is apparently angry they aren't hiring all of his "superiorly qualified" mil buds.

He didn't call them "superiorly qualified." Those are your words. Somebody sounds like a DB...and it ain't his friend.

First off, you'll ALWAYS have employees that are going to complain about ANYTHING, not matter what. But with that in mind, keep it real simple and big picture. And remember, EVERYTHING is relative;

DAL; Was able to successfully merge two post bankrupt carriers, even though the recession. Able to make it one company, able to start making money, as well as a general forward/onward/upward way of doing things. And even as a side result, able to improve ;abor relations in the process. Even thought one of those groups had some of the WORST.

UCH; Would have a hard time managing the merge of two baby strollers on a pedestrian walking path. Run by a management team that really couldn't care less about labor relations and is under the impression they run am IT company and NOT a global airline. The last time S-UAL had any kind of real positivity overall as well as invested in labor was in the post ESOP/"United Rising" (anyone remember that?) era. During the BK and after they successfully destroyed any kind of labor relations and morale. And has yet to prove they care about brining it back. CAL was able to pull it off in the Bethune "From Worst to First Era", even through post 9/11, on a relative scale. But with Bethune leaving and Kellner, followed by Smisek, not ANYWHERE near what Bethune was able to do overall.

Sound like it pretty much in a nutshell?
