we sort of keep the 3 man dynamic going with the IRP in the Whale 2.0, but plumber in the 727 was definitely old school along with black smoke, thunder on take off, and car alarms going off in the parking lot.

To all the mil applicants who have interviewed out there, what did you take to the interview for the logbook review? I've painstakingly broken down every sortie from my extracts into a spread sheet which nicely captures my times. Is this sufficient for an interview or should I have my entire stack of extracts as well?

I have an excel spreadsheet with everything since we don't differentiate between PIC time etc. I've also been checking out my flight records along with the most current summary sheet.

I hate to get into this, but he's got a point. Long term guys likely have some issues. It can be a decent mid-career stopping point beyond a regional or after military if the good jobs aren't hiring- they (Kalitta in particular- Atlas seems like it's a pretty decent carrier) also hire plenty of damaged goods (even guys that get fired from the regionals) that aren't going anywhere, though.

actually that may of been true in the past but the post 2008 Connie is a bit different, I was a furloughed Netjets guy and extremely grateful to get a job, I initially checked out on the Classic, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the training in house on our own -200 sim.good guys, good training, I know a lot of people are going to roll their eyes but there it is. I like the flying we do,especially the resupply mission in the 'stans, I am Marine infantry, and it warms my heart to haul in the food and mail. God bless guys, you have a great product. Cheers out.

Also, a "long term" guy could have very well been the SAME guys that stayed at other places that WEREN'T a legacy or the highest paying LCC. The pay ended up being good (enough), the QOL was workable, they have a spouse that has a decent income, they can supplement their income with a mil retirement check and/or run a business on the side, whatever. Careful making such judgments of people.
And I'm sure SOMEBODY will make a sarcastic joke, but there's more than one former AF1 pilot at Atlas. But I'm sure those guys have "issues" (sarcasm).

Ye his statement was pretty ignorant and painting with a broad brush. It could have applied a while ago, but not now. Just like OTHE places that wouldn't be considered many people's "first pick" historically but in a post 9/11 environment became much more desirable.
Not sure on K4, but I wouldn't say that about Atlas. Since around late 2010 they hire about 25-35% on average of the people that make it though the multi-phase process. And just like a legacy, those backgrounds can be VERY comprehensive, as well as made up of some very experienced guys that aren't these "damaged goods" you speak of. And just like a legacy, they hire from a broad range of backgrounds. It's been demonstrated, NOBODY seems to have a monopoly or a leg up on what their "perfect candidate" is.

Like I said, John, Atlas is a pretty decent carrier- far and away the best of the ACMI's. They seem to treat their people very well and hire high quality people. From the people that I know that have interviewed and gone there, it is a place to make a good career at.

Almost since their inception, IMO, Atlas has been a career job. The only discretionary aspect of that job is length of time away from home. I've always thought I'd enjoy Atlas flying. I know the Atlas guys I've met at various places including the 5 towns have all been good guys.
And keep in mind, the time away from home ISN'T the same for ALL the pilots there. A legacy contract may say that min days off is 12-13 days off per month. Doesn't mean EVERY pilot ONLY gets that many days off. Many are able to break up/split their patterns. Many DON'T spend their FULL 17 days a month away from home. Etc. World wasn't too bad of job either.
But all this is apples to oranges. An ACMI carrier simply isn't a legacy. Hence the differences. Differences that MANY pilots can make work to their advantage.
