I hope the rumor is true.
Since we are in a seniority based system, shouldn't any type of early retirement be offered in seniority order? Maybe they could offer it in seniority order and then say "when we get 25 whale capts or X number of pilots, it's done."

On a personal note, the fewer displacements, the better!

That's how they will do it. At least that is how they have done the last 2. I guess once they get to the seniority of the most junior 744A guy they could cut it off so it wouldn't be available to all the narrobody guys. Who knows what they will work out. Hopefully they can get something put together that will make it possible for guys to go early. I sure don't envy someone who is 62 and has to keep working to make things work. I have a neighbor that died who was 71 years old. I don't want to work till I'm 65 and die 6 years later.

Do they change call signs when that happens?

Doesn't really matter who they get to go though, anyone leaving early will be good for the bottom half.
ER programs are mostly feel good however produce no real results unless you can get younger guys to go. If they get 25 guys over 64 to go early it basically has zero impact.
The program offered in contract 2012 turned out better then expected because they targeted 300 guys in the 63 to 65 range and got 196 guys in the 58 to 61 range. Very good for us but the company did not like it so much.
I suspect that the company will be a bit gun shy this time and ask for restrictions to insure they meet their target demographic. I doubt the program will make any real difference to the junior guys.

Yeah, I agree with that. The only way they will get what they want is to offer it to only the 744 guys and nobody else. Maybe the 777 and 330 guys so those they don't get from the 744 can displace into their positions and not cascade below those fleets.

OR...they can make it painful for them to stay.

Or they can just wait until January and post the displacements. The new 330's will be arriving starting late spring and provide a doorstop against a cascade. Ops wait, that is what they are already doing!!!

Did anybody get any traction with Delta at the recent OBAP job fair? I'm not sure what the recruiters do with the resumes they take at these job fairs and if it can get you an interview or not. Any feedback is welcome.

I was told that it adds points to your score. Only a high score or the right person pulling an application leads to an interview.

No extra points are given. Your application is what gets you the interview. Other airlines give points but delta does not. From what I was told, by going to a job fair it will get your application pulled and reviewed. By no means will it get you the interview but it will get your app looked at which could lead to an interview if your app is competitive. I have met everyone under the sun and been to two job fairs now but my app is not as competitive as those being called right now.

I was told they have around 7,000 applications and about 40% of them are military which is where most of the interviews are being offered. They told me that they are only hiring pilots with TPIC as well. I have heard a few guys that don't have TPIC time but it's rare and they have something big on their app to offset not having TPIC time. They want to hire 100 a month but training can only handle 85 a month for now. The flows from compass are done for the year so that should mean a lot more hiring from OTS.
