And I would say that a domestic transcon is much easier.

All of our flying has certain unique challenges, whether it is domestically flying a circling approach to an airport with the tower closed or trying to decipher a thick French accent rattling off unfamiliar navaids for the first time.

Normally all of these challenges are successfully met, but any can be royally screwed up, at any time, by any of us. In my humble opinion complacency is probably our biggest challenge and unfortunately that affects all fleets equally.

Just as easy for a domestic 737 crew to screw up a SAN departure as two 7ER new hires to cause an unnecesarry track divert. DAL guys have done both in recent times.

Absolutely. I was arguing his point that it could neither a) happen (having 2 newbies paired up together, and 2) it is (basically) a simple environment in which to operate.

And you are ab-so-lutely correct that complacency is the biggest challenge.

That's OK, the regional/civilian puke was probably able to give you some pointers like how to behave like normal socially adjusted human being, that you don't have to call each other by your call sign anymore, it's simply the paper work and not "the mission folder", etc......

Two questions if someone could answer please. I couldn't seem to find them anywhere.

What is the reserve callout time?

Also, has there been many people anybody has heard of, that get the "fix it" emails but then never hear anything else?

Thanks!

We have short call (capped at 6 or 7 a month) which has no specific time listed but is generally accepted as about 2 hours.

Long call is 12 hours. Conversion from long call to short call is 12 hours.

Since we are talking about the ER, I have some questions. I got assigned the plane in he latest AE and I was wondering what type of headsets work well. I have been a Douglas guy my whole time at Delta so headsets where not a big concern. Now that I will be going to a louder cockpit I am wondering. If my old Sennheiser that noise reduction no longer works will be adequate? If I do need a new one what do most of the Bubbas use? Thanks!
