My post is not just about me either. A vast majority of the pilot group would benefit from such an idea. They would benefit in increased seat seniority or moving up a seat. You tell me to fund your retirement when your generation is in the vast majority and could easily win that vote...but has yet to fund it.

Elimination of the cap would be a epic disaster for the pilot group. What we need to do is bring the swap board and swap with the pot back under the current cap. Training and vacation also need to become pay and credit.
Those who advocate going capless will love the first AE after its approved. I am guessing 700 to 800 captain displacements.

But at least a few can fund their retirement

They would fund it a lot better with a hard cap and green slips increasing.

The fund it yourself comment was duly deserved. It's a short sighted self centered way of trying to fix the unlawful and unforgivable act of retirements being stolen by the Company. Instead of getting it back from the Company it would be taking it away from the benefits of our pilot group by suggesting it be taken out of the cap. That being let out of the box will never get reeled back in.
And let me be clear, I thoroughly believe that Delta and Northwest stole this money from our pilots. They do need to return it to them. But that needs to come from the company not from the benefits and futures of our current pilots.
And I agree with Sailing. We need to bring the swap boards into the same rules.

If we are going with a hard cap as part of a job creation program that creates QOL, why not go with a 40 hour cap? It would double the number of jobs and provide way more time off. Take a look at what seat you could hold at 1/2 your current seniority number and tell me it doesn't look good. That is what a 40 hour cap does. Sure it's a huge annual pay cut, but it's still a six figure job. Who's with me?

<Insert humorous sarcasm emoji here.>

Denny,

This comment wasn’t for you or guys like you. JB was being his typic antagonistical negative self. His comments came off as another attack to “gimme more at any expense.” I’m all for doing things to help y’all out but we have to do it so all can benefit. I enjoy your posts and apologize if I offended. My comments were for him only.

I see your point and pretty much agree with it. The Company SHOULD do the right thing. My question to you ( and others): If the the Company did do the right thing and announce some kind of return, do y’all think that would affect future negotiations? As in the Company not willing to “give” as much?
