If you listened to Bob he said the 365 AE is going to be the norm fro now on since it has less training churn due to the upcoming massive retirements.

Luckily we don't just have to accept what Bob says in perpetuity without any regard for quality of life. If we prioritize QOL as I hope in the next contract, I think we can improve aspects of the process via the PWA.

Better control or advanced knowledge of training dates, more control or influence of training dates and improved OE experiences come to mind. I don't accept that we must cede all control of our lives and schedule every time we raise our hand to fill a position the company needs filled. If I can bid CQ training patterns and CQ golden days by seniority, I should similarly be able to bid IQ training patterns / start dates, and perhaps have IQ golden days. I should also have more say when it comes to OE assignments, and not simply be a slave to the whims of an OE planner throwing trips on my line with 2 days notice. Because many of us will endure perhaps as many as a dozen qual/requal courses over the course of our career, I hope I'm not alone in advocating for improvements.

He also said we they have the ability to do mock bids but then dismissed the idea because many people change their bid at the last moment.

Speaking of CQ golden days.........
Last May I believe, I bid CQ golden days for July and August based on family plans at the time. When it came time for me to bid for August CQ my family plans had changed and I actually wanted to bid CQ over those golden days. I was told by the company and DALPA I was stuck, there is no provision to drop those golden days. I didn’t want to move those days, I simply wanted to drop them completely. No can do.

I can’t think of any reason why we should not be able to drop those days. It became a huge hinderence to work around.

I think UAL vacancy bids are real time, as in the pilots know exactly where they stand while the bid is happening. That would be a nice change.

Every business day between the vacancy announcement and the final award a snapshot is published which shows what the award would look like if it were final that day.

There’s usually quite a bit of change from the first snapshot to the last as people find out how junior or senior they’d be and change their minds one way or another.

Sorta like switching from S3 to S2 to S3 at the gate.

This is exactly why I don't bid CQ golden days anymore.

Sorry for putting jumping into this thread but I didn't want to create an entire post for it because it'd be a waste I think.

I'm an army helo guy (dime a dozen) dream job has always been the airlines, I am finishing up my bachelors in May in aeronautics, at that point do I apply? Only PIC time I have other than time building is in the 60 which I don't think Delta really cares since it's a helicopter. I am rolling straight into my master in aviation safety do I wait until I have that complete to apply or 1,000 121 PIC? My initial intention is to apply as soon as I finish up my bachelors and then update as often as I can. Thoughts?

Does United massage the awards to suit their purposes like Delta? I feel like that would be one of the challenges to doing mock bids here. You see a few iterations of the results, you finalize your bid, and then the company decides once it's complete to only fill half of those 777A positions which throws the entire bid in an entirely new direction.

I love looking at data and I would love the mock bid, but I see just as many people being disappointed as satisfied if it is implemented.
