Hey everybody, I haven't posted much here, but I've long used these forums as a source of first hand information and rumors. I appreciate all you have done for us!
With that being said, I got my invite this morning! I know I still have a lot to prepare for, but I've been walking on clouds all day.
Here is my info.
2550 hours
2450 ME, the rest was Cessnas & Pipers
USAF, T-37, T-44, C-130
1400 PIC
700 Instructor
IP, EP, Director of Operations, Advanced Instrument School
Zero failed Checkrides
3.02 in College on History Degree
3.92 on Masters from Air University
2 internals, one from a new hire still on probation, one from an FO hired in the last two years.
I listed five tickets on the App, but 4 were in High School and one was in 2006.
To help answer some of these questions in your minds about the selection process, I applied a couple years ago, but didn't get internal recs into the system until Nov 2014. One of them sent the email and got a confirmation from the hiring folks that my App would be reviewed and scored but there was a backlog. He got that email on 16 Jan and I was called on 20 March. Interviewing 15 April.
I have updated my App sporadically for a couple years and then weekly since the internals went in. I have no "connections" at the company except for the described internals.
Bottom line, stick with the app updates, get your internals to send the email. The info on here about filling out your app must be helpful, because I followed most of it. The calls are going out!
Good luck everybody, now I gotta focus on interview prep.

I attended ERAU but I didn't complete all of my flight training there. I only completed my CFI and CFII there and I then worked at ERAU as a flight instructor. A few pages back there was a post with slides saying training from a top rated flight school is a key selection factor. I was under the aeronautics degree program which allowed students to complete some flight training at various part 61 flight schools. I did this for my instrument and commercial ratings because it saved a huge amount of money. Does anyone with insight into the hiring process know how this compares with someone who completed all of their flight training at a top rated university? I'm also not sure if I should put the part 61 schools in the education section.

I'm not in the know, but I don't think anyone will care if you got your instrument at Riddle or Bobs Flying School. What have you done since? Focus on your positive qualities, especially those that demonstrate leadership, volunteerism, community service, etc.
I've reviewed apps for several friends and was surprised to see that most of them left out their non-flying achievements/experiences. That is the stuff that will set you apart.
Good luck

I would kind of say that a Line Check Airman is a combination of a military IP and a military EP. A military instructor can only instruct and get non-current guys recurrent. A separate evaluator actually gives checkrides/evaluations. On the airline side, the LCA pretty much does both.
And of course, a military EP can also be an IP and be designated as either on any specific flight. In other words, the EP would probably be listed as an IP on a flight that he is not giving an evaluation on.
