Interview Gouge
Congrats to all you new hires! I know several of you are looking for recent interview gouge. I'm a 777 F/O at United and I started a free website for sharing interview gouge. If you were recently interviewed and do a decent write-up I'll send you a $10 Starbucks gift card (see the website for details). It's not much, but a small thank you. If you do a write-up, drop me a line with your e-mail address where you'd like the gift card delivered. My e-mail is [email protected] and the website is www.airlinepilothiring.net
I also have a good working relationship with Cage Consulting and FTI for Interview and Simulator Prep (I highly recommend this.....it's far more important than the gouge)...and no, I don't get any compensation. I do this for fun and because I enjoy helping out.
The website is all about “pilots helping pilots" and is unique in that interview gouge is just one aspect. I also have tools and information for current professional pilots like a "Layover Guide" that anyone can add to and edit, aviation videos, aviation news, KCM locations, uniforms, VPN services, best iPhone apps for pilots and much, much more. I add to the website regularly based on your suggestions! Any pilot stuff that I use personally or information I want access to is probably on the website. I’m currently working on new help sections on “Military to Civilian transition”. Help spread the word; the more people participate, the better it will get!
Thanks!

Hey guys, I am curious if any of you out there have been hired or interviewed at Delta that are non military or non 121. I am currently part 91 and previous part 135, flying International PIC in Gulfstreams with around 5700 hours (2600 Jet PIC). It would be nice to know if others with similar quals have had a shot as I have a few internal recommendations which should generate the scoring of my app.

I spoke recently to a Chief LCA when I was jump seating. He stated he has tried to help a good friend of his that he has known for years. He has even tried going to the pilot selection group and speak personally on behalf of his friend. He said that he was told "walk in" information for an applicant was not accepted and that everything that counts is on Airlineapps.
As time passes and they keep interviewing individuals there will probably come a time when they will be more accepting to this form of recognizing an applicant. This part is obviously my opinion and I'm not anyone in the real "know" about it. What I would do in your situation is get that person to write you a letter anyway and see if they know anyone they can talk to - you just don't ever know what it could do for you. Maybe that will be a way to help get you noticed. Again what I am writing in this paragraph is my opinion, but what I wrote in the first paragraph is direct information from a Chief LCA.
Hope this helps.

Liberty Pilot,
As a long-time watcher here and a corporate chief pilot, I'll weigh in. I agree experienced corporate guys can make fine 121 pilots (I was one), but the hiring has been concentrated on separating military pilots, flows and a small number of regional off the street pilots. Corporates are seen, at present, as too different, lack the network and will be chancy at fitting into an airline operation. This will change as hiring pool is depleted.
Most of the skills of corporates are little needed or appreciated by airline hiring boards. They don't make their own flight plans, arrangements and passenger handling skills end with a locked door.
Keep working at it.

While I like airline flying (albeit boring) and a schedule I wouldn't trade in my time flying VVIP for anything. Especially the repo flights, it's like owning the jet yourself!
