Yes - January 2014. Thanks for pointing that out, I corrected my original post.
No data on 121 vs non 121 - the numbers were not broken out.

Thanks for posting this. It brings more light as to how hard it really is as a civilian to get an interview. I'm just curious of the 400 civilian how many of those guys are flows or SSP? I'm betting the majority of those civilians came from that so even if it's only half that means only 200 civilians have been hired off the street. Talk about some stiff competition!!

had probably the easiest flying job in mil aviation and it was a great degree more challenging than the corporate flying I did.
Well, I did something that looked like a head-on tanker rejoin, offset and all, early one morning in a Global Express off SYD followed by an hour's worth of close formation. As good as any tanking in the C-5.

True, although the flows will be over soon and retirements will increase significantly. The supply of military pilots will likely only decrease as well. While I understand the angst of being on the outside wanting in, not everyone can get hired in year one of a hiring wave. The wave is massive and looks like it is here to stay though. Hang in there.
From me and the rest of the guys on this side of the fence. I/we can't say thanks enough for the information you post on here and also the encouragement you provide. I mean this seriously, there are others that also post some good information on here as well. but you do quite a bit yourself and it helps those guys like us trying to "see in".
Just like you mentioned we all can't get on this first year, but there are many of us who have been loyal to the Delta brand on the regional side for over a decade and hoping to be a mainline delta guy one day soon. Also, several of these 91/135 guys have shown a super high desire to be there also. This is something that I/we hope Delta gives some credit for in the future.
Thanks for all your posts and the good insight you provide!

Hoping that someone can shed some light to a rumor I heard recently. Is it true the DAL prefers applicants that have between 6000 to 7000 hours? Is having more than that a detractor to ones application that is otherwise very competitive?

You're saying that you value highly the experience of a corporate pilot and wish that their experience was given greater weight in the selection process (a perfectly valid opinion, don't get me wrong) and in the same breath wondering why military pilots are given so much preference? I had probably the easiest flying job in mil aviation and it was a great degree more challenging than the corporate flying I did.
