Not my intent at all. I just want to do Indoc and IQ while on regular and/or terminal leave with some permissive TDY at the end. Makes the timing difficult to have enough leave/terminal to cover all the Indoc/IQ. I have plenty of leave, just trying to figure out where to put the stake in the ground.

It's a great problem to have. Can't afford to mess it up and get sent packing.

Don't sweat it Hryk..and welcome aboard! I'd recommend being available for indoc in August, especially since the pool will be empty and training is ramping up to 100 per month. If you plant your flag too early and wind up with a couple of months off..enjoy it..cause you'll be sitting reserve in the DL hub of your choice soon enough!

Sorry, didn't mean to intend at all. I was ready to do the same had they offered me a class two weeks ahead of the one I got. As it worked I ended up having 10 days off between the retirement day and the start of indoc. If you can get in an earlier class and then get the duty days knocked out afterward then you're doing it right!

I can't seem to find any reference for a minimum time frame between indoc and aircraft training for a newhire in the PWA. Do you know where it says that a newhire will be given 7 days between indoc and aircraft training?

Any other poolies with their airlineapps account set to expire before training starts? I start in June, website membership ends May 22. Any reason pay the money to keep this active? No desire to move over to United.

Recommend keeping the account active, since the contact info in airlineapps is what DAL will use to contact you for your CTT and class date. Maybe you can remove your UAL app and downgrade to the free version?

Just a word of warning that you may already know....you can start employment while on terminal but not while on permissive. I retired from the AF last fall and they were very clear on this.

There is nothing in the PWA for newhire schedules, prior to finishing IOE. You really are at the mercy of whoever builds your schedule.

As far as min days off between Indoc and training, there is none. Average is 10 days off, but I personally know someone who recently had only 1 day off. He couldn't even leave ATL after Indoc was finished.

So he had 1 day to do his systems disk and WWO training? That is ridiculous. Like I said, our guy had 4 days and they moved him back to 7 and said that was the contract min. But, if it isn't in there, it isn't in there. Good luck to those about to start.

It is truly ridiculous that Delta no longer teaches aircraft systems to its pilots via any sort of ground school. They give you a disk (memory stick) that they pay you to go through once, and then expect you to teach yourself everything else in all the manuals on your own time and dime.

They don't actually test you on anything other than what's on the stick, but the sim instructors sure do whine when you don't know much else.
