Note: New spreadsheet link due to trouble with the old one.

I have very little info on CJOs after Feb 20, so this spreadsheet will rapidly lose its usefulness if I don't get the number of CJOs offered after Feb 20.

Finally, a personal question. I will be commuting for about a year from DFW with the hope of eventually getting out west (SLC or SEA). Any ideas for best aircraft to start out in to get off reserve quickest. Anyway, best of luck to all those starting. Keep sending me updates especially on class drops. Cheers,

Badger,

5/13 - 6 of 8 CJO
5/14 - 6 of 7 CJO
5/15 - 7 of 8 CJO

5/15 interview class,

please PM me, I have an email group going of everyone from the 5/13 and 5/14 CJOs and I want to include you on it since we all could potentially be in the same new hire class

Question about the timing of Indoc/Training/retirement date. Is there a point at which DAL requires you to be no-kidding retired? I.e., can you start training or IOE or sitting reserve or flying the line (ha!) while still on terminal leave/permissive TDY?

Know a dude who tried that at another airline....when they found out he was on leave to get his training done, but still on active duty they were none too pleased. He was shown the door and asked to never apply again. I believe his "plan" was to get his training done and then claim he was on mil orders; that or try to get off active duty as quick as possible.

Now, if you're in the process of retiring and have orders I wouldn't blame a guy for taking as early a class as possible (use some leave for the indoc) and then use the time before training to put in those 9 or 10 days before going on terminal leave. HOWEVER, what if they say your training starts three days after indoc? (plug in my indoc class had all of three days off before his 5-6 weeks of training started). Before accepting the early class I would make sure AK understood the situation and gave his blessing.

Current trainees...is this still holding true-ish? 2 to 4 weeks between Indoc and IQ?

Notwithstanding GunshipGuy's experience, I heard a rumor it might be stretching longer due to sim capacity. (uncanny you answered my other question while I was writing this)

A friend of mine had two weeks after Indoc and started a week ago. A guy on a two day jumpseat observation ride with us last week said he had three days.

Per the contract you have to have 7 days. A guy in my class had less and they fixed it. They are no longer doing less than that. However, I would plan on no more than 7-8 days.

wouldn't it be acceptable do come to indoc while on leave if explicitly approved by the military? I believe military commanders can authorize civilian employment while serving on active duty, but I think it needs to be in writing. Also, concurrent civilian employment is always authorized on terminal leave. At any rate, I wouldn't "secretly" do this. I would coordinate this on both sides to see if anyone has an issue with it.

As you described it, I don't think it would be a problem. The scenario in my mind where it would be a problem is where a new employee who is a military retiree/separating member, who said they'd be available on such and such day takes a class date, but is not on terminal leave. Even that would be OK if both sides know what you're doing. But if this member was trying to game the system by knocking out indoc and training and then pull the "I need to go on mil leave status for the next XXX days to finish my time." Well, that IMO would be a big problem. Maybe people do it, but if they do and it's approved I think it's not right.

This sounds logical, and I will be sure to talk to AK about it. On the mil side, my boss already knows my plan and is good with it. Thanks

I suppose at some point DAL will ask for a DD214 and at least in the Navy you won't get that until on terminal leave or actually out.
