In all the AE/VD awards I'm aware of, your seat lock starts when you are awarded the position. I don't know how you would get two quick shots at any aircraft......you would be seat locked once awarded the first one. Am I missing something?

Hey Denny,

It is in LOA #9 for you guys that it states we can participate in an AE while being held back. LOA.9.13.e. The 1 year seat lock came after this, but I would think the Flow LOA would still pertain to dealing with the likes of us.

Yes it does say that. Be aware that you can participate in an AE and still be seat locked. In other words, you may be able to change bases but not planes......

This probably deserves a call to ALPA and/or the Company to find out for sure.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. That does help. MD-80 means I'm commuting until my category lock is up so if there is a backlog of 717 training I get a little nervous. It wouldn't be the first time I've commuted but it will be the first time I've commuted while married.

65% first year (assuming you get the 88 initially of course).

95% sometime in second year.

I was a 2010 hire and I can't hold it yet. Maybe in a year or two.

The 'plug" for MSP 88B is 286 numbers from the bottom of the seniority list. (A 2008 hire.) So, assuming all stays relatively standard, you would need approx. 300 pilots below you, on the seniority list, to hold MSP.

If it is anything like LAX, SLC or SEA there will be very little movement with out growth in that specific base. For example as of today there are 18 guys senior to a 9500 seniority number with the MSP M88 B as there #1 choice on the next AE. I can't see how many have it as there number one choice between 9500 and 11593 but I would imagine it is at least that many more. So with that said there will have to be a fair amount of movement or growth just to let the 30-40 in that already are on property.
