Putting mil leave on your schedule ahead of the monthly bids will reduce your ALV window by a proportionate amount. This can be either a positive or negative depending on your objective. If you want a full schedule, bid for days off when you need to fly for ANG/Reserve. Seniority doesn't usually allow for weekends off during probation, so I would often put drill weekend for mil leave, then get the remaining ANG flying on my days off from Delta.

Abusing mil leave is a different issue. I hear you, but being non-volunteered for a deployment that's 5 months after starting indoc creates problems. The real problem starts with not knowing when you'll start indoc. Now instead of having 10 months till the deployment, it's only 5. Of course you want to start off right with a new career, but some circumstances require you to use mil leave...

Deployements are not an issue. The abuse is with the mil leave guys who take three weeks of leave each month to go to their unit and never have the time to actually fly for Delta. They were hired because Delta needs them.......not so they can get a seniority number until Delta pay tops military pay. I'm amazed at some of the things new hires tell me about the mil leave they take every month.
It is my opinion that your post could reveal more about your nature than that of your "new hires."

2 questions:
Did those going to indoc next Monday (4 Apr) get a transportation e-mail confirming the flight to ATL but no info on the return leg?
Health/dental insurance: is there an age limit on unmarried children, ie, college students? Tricare forces children to get their own insurance at 23 even if they're in college, and it ain't cheap!

re: age limit: Because of YOUR Commander-in-Chief's brilliant "affordable" Health Care plan,
children are allowed to remain covered under a parent's plan until age 26.
