The audio and video were a great brushing up just prior to the interview, but not nearly as good as going to a seminar. Consider it an investment in your future, just like the new suit you will probably never wear again (except twice at Indoc!)

Also, I scheduled my EC follow-up phone prep the night before my interview. That was a very good way of calming my nerves. The lady that I discussed everything with was phenomenal and encouraging.

Of course -- however I don't think it'd be any worse than NYC717B as a first assignment to be 'stuck with.'
Almost immediate lineholder or guaranteed option for rolling thunder pick-your-flying if on reserve, and on the 717, easy to switch over to any of the other three bases on the next AE.
Plus, LAX would be easy to commute to, and only one airport to worry about for 99% of 717 rotations.
I wouldn't shy away from it if I were in indoc right now.

So is it likely for a new hire to get anything based in ATL to start? If not, how long to hold even reserve in ATL on any of the airframes? ATL is only place with direct flights for me, so not sure if I would be able to make NYC work.
