When you are planning your housing, one month of a 'crashpad' is an option, or option 2 is 16-20 nights in a hotel since you can go home between 'weeks'. A couple of guys in my class did the 'Residence Inn' style suite setup, splitting the cost and just keeping the suite for the duration. Benefits here are a kitchenette and some meals included.
One thing to remember is that this is one month at the beginning of your career. Training has many stresses. For some, the study situation is the biggest stressor and for others, money may be the biggie. Take your personal inventory and decide what situation is best for YOU; hotel or crashpad(other). YMMV

717 you can avoid any reserve days if you want--can pretty much roll thunder right through it. If you think you will sit on your couch....not gunna happen.
88 on res typically fill up month.
Look at the bright side, you'll get off probation sooner

I just received an invite to interview. If anyone that's interviewed recently could suggest what to study, I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to narrow down what sources to study for the technical test. Did you use a prep service?
Thanks!
Thanks!

All 717 FOs will either fill up or RT right now. According to SD this will be fixed very soon. MD88 guys are pretty busy too. In fact over the summer, I don't think there's anywhere a new hire will be able to camp out without doing quite a bit of flying.

I used standard ATP prep software (Sheppard Air, ASA, etc.). Seemed to me many of the questions were very similar if not exact wording. Worked for me...YMMV.

Thank you. Could you tell me what is meant when he said that "this will be fixed very soon"? Does that mean that staffing on the 717 is progressively getting better?

This page is good, but there's a ton out there...don't just rely on this page for everything, it's more focused on life after a CJO.
Good luck!
