Quote: 2 questions:

Did those going to indoc next Monday (4 Apr) get a transportation e-mail confirming the flight to ATL but no info on the return leg?

Health/dental insurance: is there an age limit on unmarried children, ie, college students? Tricare forces children to get their own insurance at 23 even if they're in college, and it ain't cheap!

Thx!
They will only book you travel to Indoc. I think on day 1 they will show you how to book the rest of your travel (positive space) till you are done with the sims.

Can we fly other airlines during indoc? There is a commuter airline with service to my city. I'm a bit of a drive from the mainline airport.

I guess the real question is, when can we jump seat?

Quote: During indoc they'll have SME's from each department come and explain the rules/limitations of each benefit.

re: age limit: Because of YOUR Commander-in-Chief's brilliant "affordable" Health Care plan.....
Hey! Whoa! Them's fightin' words! He ain't my CiC anymore, I'm retired. And even when I was in, I still didn't claim him....

To add some humor to this, after takeoff should I bring up the Captains I fly with how I feel about politics and religion?

Ahhh....thx for explaining that. Didn't think about jump seating, etc from here on out after day 1.

Thx again!

I think that JS was available pretty quickly. The biggest pain for my class was getting activated in KCM.

When you have your Company ID and have been loaded into the Cockpit Access Security System. (CASS) Not sure how quickly it happens during INDOC, but I would assume within 24hrs of your first day. #welcome

For my group we weren't in the system until the middle of the second week. That being said "they" were working on trying to get the process sped up. The big thing is that you are positive space so you aren't jumpseating you have a seat in the back you just couldn't go through KCM security until it was activated. YMMV

I believe I heard the newest classes this year are not in CASS until after their check rides. Second hand info though.

Quote: So, are you saying mil leave, on orders, is abuse? Because that's what it sounds like you're saying. The federal law would differ with you.

I was in the reserves. Many times when I was at my unit I was not on orders. Most of the time I was on orders, it was by choice. So we both know everyone doing time at their unit doesn't have to be there. I made every effort to do my military time on my off days. Rarely did I drop a trip to work in the reserves and I was doing 9-10 days a month at my unit.

If I was so involved on the reserves or guard that I was needed there three weeks of every month, I never would have applied for an airline job. But hey, that's just me.

No you can't jumpseat while in training. Company won't put you in kcm or Cass until your loe....sucks but at least you get positive space.

You don't get paid by the reserves unless you're on some type of orders. I never did reserve stuff for free. I'd suspect new hires don't either.
