For reference, the 2/22 class took us over 13000 pilots so go from there to guess your seniority number.

Depending on retirements, the number will be below 13,000 at the end of February. Once the first clas starts in March, there will firmly be over 13,000 pilots on property.

The most junior in the 2/22 class is 13,029. You're suggesting we'll have 29 or more retirements in Feb? If so, that would be double the pace the company has said we would retire this year. I'm not saying that's implausible, but it would behoove the company to adjust their numbers and greatly pick up hiring if it is true.

So, just out of curiosity I looked at the scheduled mandatory retirements: (category/staffing page)

Feb: 9
Mar: 11
Apr: 21
May: 14

Based on the 2/22 class plug being 13,029, unless we have a bunch of 'non-mandatory exits' (vol retires, medicals, 'I'm-sick-of-it-I'm-done's, etc.) we should stay above the 13K mark for a while based on the current hiring pace. Good news, good news.

For the last 6 months I've moved up about 25-35 numbers a month. Some could be leaving for other companies but I think most are retirements. During my Indoc they told us they were planning on averaging 700 new hires or so per year for the next 10 years. Those projections change all the time though. It seems like delta is perfectly happy to remain slightly understaffed and fix it with greenslips and white slips, it probably saves them money.

I moved up 72 spots in 2 months on property. It's well over double the retirement plan. I do, however, think the company has already factored that into hiring. Minimal growth this year is planned, so the numbers are to get ahead of early retirements. Just a guess.

SEA most junior category is 73N which is May 2015 hire. The ER is a Nov 2014 hire.

SLC has ER, 73N, and 320. April 2015, July 2015, and Dec 2014, respectively.
Recent conversion list dropped some of those. Except SLC. 73N Sea and Lax is Nov/December time frame. 717 the same.

I know the SLC ER / April 2015 guy. Good dude. FWIW, he did indoc in April, got sim qualled in the ER in mid-summer, immediately held an ER line in NYC, flew his first actual flight on 9 Aug and was able to sit reserve in SLC in about mid-October.

He's got family in SLC and made it there amazingly quick, if you ask me.

Good luck to all of us eventually getting to where we'd like to be.

Thanks MikeF16, Peoloto, Phuz, & dogismycopilot for the input, helps with my decision. A 30 hour in JAN would be fine with me! Especially, if I could do that for reserve (YS?). It's the double commute that concerns me, not NYC...so I will be gunning for ATL.

How quickly could I get to ATL (Assuming I start NY)...is that a once a year thing with the AE? What are some common destinations for the 717 out of ATL?

Thanks again!

AE's are coming out about every 2 months.
