Add LAX to unavailable list to new hires.

I bet LAX will be easy to hold after 18 months with the company. It's generally over the years been a junior senior base with no middle class. You might even see new hires in the spring hold it this fall.

With that said there is always the low level rumor of a future west coast NB domicile. SEA and LAX are both currently gate limited for DAL so who knows? And also if there is a NB base out here it might also be the 717.

Best strategy at the current time is get on the 757/767 and hope the movement kicks in as expected. Could be less than a year if you are lucky but will probably be closer to two. It has taken some guys 5-6 years to get to the west coast but that was when we would go years without hiring. If the movement is as quick as some say I would say around a year to SEA on the 757/767.

Thanks for the info Scoop. I've read what has been said about being junior on the 7ER... Can be ugly I guess. Would I be happier to start on something else in the east until I can hold SEA, then do an airframe swap to 7ER?

The whole reason to go to the 7er initially is to avoid another 30 day stay in Hooterville and the 1 year new hire seat lock. If you think it's going to take more than a year to get into SEA and if you don't mind going to training again, bid what you will be most senior on the soonest. Especially if you are commuting.

Hypothetically speaking, if one were to be awarded the ER as a new hire and was unfortunate enough to be displaced - do you bid on a vacancy in an AE or do they force your hand to wherever they want you?

Sorry if this has been covered before. Thanks in advance.

You get to bid whatever you can hold, vancacy or not, no freeze, and a paid move if you want IAW the semi-complex provisions that are too cumbersome to attempt to post. Plus you get reinstatement rights that can help you get back to where you were displaced from "ahead" of others in some cases (not really ahead of anyone, since you already had it at one time). Over all not a bad deal if it has to happen.

Question for those who have already gone to class - or for those "in the know"...

Is there any preparation that people are doing, or that might be advisable, prior to showing up to indoc?
