Default 717 growth ramp rate

Anyone know the ROT for how many aircrew per A/C are required? With Delta taking on 88 717s, it seems that would require a good number of folks. Watching the 717 drops so far showing 2 to 4, sometimes 6. Is that something we'd expect to see increase a little in the coming months? Grateful for some insight, thanks.

Also does anybody know if the 717 is headed to NYC ever?

You're absolutely right. Expect the number of 717 slots to increase going forward as they catch up with the training backlog.

I have yet to see E period sims

Don't think it's a training backlog
I think the are just waiting for AE for CA on the 717. Going through training now and most instructors don't like fo/fo training.

Most guys transitioning from other fleets have spent some time parked waiting for OE. It has ranged from a week to many months depending on where they fell in the cycle. I think they are finally getting caught up with transitioning pilots and we will see more new hires getting the 717 now that the backlog is clearing.

Guys that finished the sim in late JAN/early FEB are just now going to OE. I think some of the furlough recalls and new hires have gone through a little faster as they benefit from the quicker consolidation of knowledge - not that everyone's proficiency doesn't suffer after a few months on the bench.

Keep in mind that the PWA prohibits a line pilot from getting assigned an E period. Only new hires and OALs training in the sims can do an E period. I would expect to see FO/FO new hires in there in the future. The lucky ones will get paired with a captain and get the A-D periods.

E period sims are only allowed for new hires. The backlog however is not at the sim level. It's at the OE level.

Crew planning has stated the next 717 base will be NYC. Rumored bids will be put out in the fall.

Are they going to grow DTW any more first for the 717?
