Indeed. By September 2025 (11 years from now), we will have MANDATORILY retired over 6000 pilots, more than half our current seniority list. What does that say for the advancement potential of today's new-hire?
Small correction, sir.
If the early retirement numbers stay like 2013 you can expect a 3% early retirement rate. So that is about 38 early retirements over the next half decade and about 180 early over the next 11 years.
Just flew with line check captain who said at the line check meeting the early retirement subject came up several times and the general consensus was its to expensive to go early. Due to health insurance, lack of retirement and such.

Your timing is very good AND I echo Sailing's words. DAL is a great place to work.

I know. You 2000 hires should be give an override for having the worst possible luck of any group of hires ever to be hired. Bad economy, 9/11, RJ's, Age 65, mergers. You guys have just had one kick after another....sorry man. I will say your group is a good group of guys and gals.
The future is looking pretty bright at Delta..barring another FM event (like war breaking out over Ukraine). My advice would be to live below your means and bid a category where a lot of new-hires will be moving in below you. That will reduce the chance of being displaced and going to training if something bad happens. The ER is an awesome opportunity..but if the crap hits the fan, expect to get displaced down and get to train on the 73N, 88, 717 depending on how bad things get. The 88 and the 717 will at least act as a shock absorber if guys have to displace down above you...cause you never know what can happen.
Like many have said, Delta is a great company with great guys/gals to fly with. Good luck and Welcome Aboard to all those headed for VA Ave.!

FWIW ... only a dozen bidders want M88A ahead of Delta's first 2007 hires. It is entirely possible that we will have a 2007 hire get it on this bid.

I was talking to the CP (TN) on Friday. He said 20 more flow letters were going out today. Total of 140 flow letters for the year. I heard a couple declined the flow so that jibes with the 138 pilots that is calculated by the number of pilots expected to be on the list by July. I was also told that they are no longer splitting the flows into two classes and each group of 20 will flow into the first class of the month. All future flows are going to be allowed to flow with a 60 day holdback. So there should be 20 Compass flow in the first September class and then the flow will start up again in January.
