Thx to Badger I'm projected to be in indoc 11 Apr, the same month my Class I expires.
How are Class I's done once we are on property? Are we still on our own or is there a preferred DAL AME that we need to work with? Do we ever meet with any company DOCs/AMEs once on property ?
I'm trying to figure out if I should just do my Class I early or wait until its due while I'm in indoc.

I would think you have to come to class with a current First Class medical. You never meet with a Delta doc; not sure they even exist. Go to any FAA-approved AME that does the First Class.
And you will always go to an AME of your choosing. The month your due, a preset amount is included in a paycheck to cover it. If you spend more than what you're given by the company, that cost is eaten by you. I was given around $280 last July for my medical which included the EKG.

One caveat (I don't know your exact dates): figure out how much of a PITA it will be to get a medical done while you're in indoc and/or training--it may be worth it to get it done out of pocket ahead of time. Your call....
Sort-of. You get the flat-rate reimbursement when you submit your new medical certificate. You get the "higher" rate for the first one of the calendar year (to cover the EKG), the "lower" rate for the second one (if applicable, if your category and/or age require you to be on the six-month plan).

If you don't expire until after indoc then Why? Get on property and get it reimbursed. If for some reason you don't "pass" I'd rather already have the dal badge in my hand...fwiw.

Remember, the new medical must be submitted to the company by the 25th of the due month. Your telling a new hire to go to indoc, then go home for possibly a few days to get a new medical by the 25th, just to save, at most, a couple hundred bucks. Bad advise if you ask me.
