Either way, this was ridiculous, and I remember commenting to my buddies that if any Delta employees needed assistance, it was probably new hire pilots.

I can speak from experience. They do not hunt you down if you do not sign up to give money. I don't remember even getting a cross look.
Being in class with me is definitely bragging .

I left the class with the impression they had bullied everybody into giving, but I didn't personally check everybody's donation form!

I wouldn't characterize that as an oral. Not a traditional oral, at least. More like 10-15 minutes of asking questions, aided by PowerPoint slides. Which, by the way, they do every time you go to the sim for a 44X.

FWIW, there is also the Delta Pilots' Charitable Fund and the Furloughed Pilot Emergency Relief Fund (not just for furloughed pilots).

Both are worthy and do good works, if anyone is in a giving mood.

Default Dell Laptop for Distance Learning Available

If anyone is interested in buying a Dell to do their distance learning I've got one available for sale. I bought it on eBay about a month ago to do mine. It's refurbished and costs $100. Worked fine for me. All I downloaded from the web was Google Chrome to get an antivirus program (AVG). Other than that, didn't surf the net.

I'm staying at the Atlanta Airport North Holiday Inn until Aug 15 if you're interested.

FYI, thats a good deal but you can also get a free copy of windows from the Pilot Support Center to load on any Mac and then load your USB training to do the same thing.

Default Delta New-hire equipment

Sorry i am in so late. My wife starts class on Monday, and we were discussing equipment and bidding. She is OK with NYC or ATL. What equipment has been available for new-hires. Any info would be appreciated.

On another positive note delta is posting on their crew resources update that they are increasing hiring from 120/month to 150/month in a few months. If there is a pool it is very shallow. If you have an upcoming interview and get hired expect to start within weeks of your interview. Keep those apps updated...

Expect a mix of 717, 88, A320 and 737. Lots of NYC, ATL and a few DTW has been the norm. Seniority is and will always be best in NYC. If you can make that work bid it.
