Any idea how many pilots we have now who are under 40?

And under 30?

Are there any under 30, not from the new classes, but prior to recalls/hiring?

I'm guessing we have a lot more Escalator Surfers (over 60) than Curb Half Steppers (Under 40).
Under 40 is about 570, under 30 is 3, over 60 is 1270. (rounded)

So there is about 2.2 times more over 60 then under 40. If my math is right.

About 83% of the list is between 53-56 years old right now.

Thanks again for the work.

In 9-12 years, 83% of today's pilot group will be gone!

Yeah...I think they're going to be hiring for awhile!

I'm still waiting for an AE with replacements for all the 747/777 Capt's. that have gone since last March. Nothing yet, and that bothers me.

Thanks FTB. Any idea on the average age of newhires? It seems like it is in the high 30s.

42 is the average, high of 57 and low of 31.

Really? Sure looks like there is more than 17% outside of 53-56 in this graph.

Yeah I took cumulative 3 year run two times over and after they're added together you get 83%, so you're right. It's not correct.

Here's a graph...

50% are between 52-59, 74% between 47-60.

In 2018 it'll be a lot more interesting around here. I'm sure there is an outsourcing solution that will solve our staffing needs.

^^^^^ THis. You and I think a lot a like.
On Deltanet, it states for us, the employees, to help protect Delta's international service. I think to myself, what is a puny, little employee going to do? Is it really up to me or do I have the power to do anything? I have signed all petitions, prayed and wished for extinction for airlines like NAI or JVs but somewhere somehow, nothing has worked. Why do I think this posturing is all part of the overall plan? All this doom and gloom from RA and management. All the request to help, sign, revolt. All done to fall unto deaf ears. After all capitalism will prevail, even if it goes to the lowest bidder.

Me thinks, RA is more powerful and connected than the other 69,999 employees at Delta. I think with his connections, political allies, deal makings, schmoozing/negotiating etc, he can make a deal to keep Delta at the top or keep airlines like NAI OUT! I dont buy it for one minute, that all this will change because we, the employees, are going to complain. RA and his gang need to step it up. That is if they truly think this invasion is a threat.

Me thinks, this is all part of the future plan. Its coming and there is nothing we can do about it. RA,his management team and other distinguished airline brass are the solution to our problems, unless their future plans do not include us.

Agreed. RA could single handedly crush those NAI scum and cause their liquidation with extreme ease. Add in UAL, AA and even SW to the mix, plus the 2.5 cargo giants we have, and we can capacity dump/price ravage any dirt bag operator like this and there's nothing they can do about it. But like you said its not up to us as long as our executives focus only on getting that extra tenth of a percent YoY RASM growth, which is unsustainable anyway. They are under our thumb and we can crush them at our leisure.

So when will we?
