That's easy for a widebody captain to say but it doesn't win you many friends on the bottom half of our seniority list.

I heard a line check guy say we are buying Southwest.

And the Galactic Empire's Shuttle Service. The Endor to Death Star route has huge yields I guess. Passengers are a bit like Nazis though.

Close. Virgin Galactic

How would they do that, given the 1-year category freeze for new hires?

OK, move it down the line a year then. Same result, but point taken.

Nor does their willingness to sacrifice retirement issues for bottom end scope endear them to the top half. Nothing new here.

The group as always and will always be fragmented along these very lines. That's why this all or nothing tripe from the vocal minority (and make no mistake, it IS a minority) is extremely counterproductive. If you want a deal that will get 75% yes vote, I GUARANTEE you that majority of those voting yes will be holding their nose over something. You are naive if you believe otherwise.

I am not condemning bottom end scope. I am thinking it is not as big an issue as it is be made out to be because of the industry dynamics right now. The newbies aren't gonna want to waste their time with RJs when they will be flying 717s in 5 years. (Sticky that if you wan) But if the group wants to waste negotiating capital on it, then that is what we will do. JMHO, YMMV

It's really no big deal that the DCI carriers do voer 50% of our domestic departures.

I've got mine.

Insanity. Same mistakes over and over and over.

Top end scope means far more jobs, and since you have apparently been asleep, the regional model is dying.

Yeah, insanity is right.

Edit: And I love how you ALWAYS spin everything into a junior/senior, old/young, N/S, ALPA/gods at DPA, thing. You are the farthest thing from a unifier these boards. YOU are the one doing that Jerry. Every post.

The 50 seaters may die on their own but I don't think holding the line on the 76 seaters is a waste of capital. If we give another round of concessions on those and allow more of them to be outsourced then there are going to be fewer 717 jobs (or even 88 or 737 jobs) eventually.

have no problem with that. I don't want to buy them though. To chase them is folly They were losing something like 20 captains a month and getting 4 new hires. The math ain't hard.
