Here's a random thought:
The MEC is obviously divided on the merits of this agreement. I hate to see our union go through this divisive exercise. We need unity. There might be a way to get a 19-0 vote. ALPA is always accused of mounting a "sales job". Whether you agree or not, a lot of pilots perceive that as somehow unfair. That sales ritual is the source of nearly all the acrimony and divisiveness. One option would be to simply empower the rank and file: Send it out without the MEC formally recommending a yes or no vote. Let the line pilots read it and decide for themselves. Individual ALPA officials can opine to their hearts content. Just refrain from activating the "machine" this time. Small "d" democracy. Writ large. Carl |

No they won't! Not as long as they are run by that idiot. It seems like all the folks supportive of them have the same level of intelligence....

And just like that, the pathetically inadequate JV grievance settlement is buried. An afterthought.
RA played Donatelli like a fiddle. Donatelli is playing us like a Stradivarius. "World's best airline contract." Purple. Seriously. Please. Get laid. Please. |

7/3/3/3 isn't even as good as our last contract. That's pathetic when the company is making billions.
Our last contract wasn't that great. And agreed. If we got 14% on 01/16 we would be at AA rates. Plus theirs since no profit sharing at AMR. How ya think THAT SLI is rolling? Can't wait for the TA. This is exciting. |

Either way, it's the very definition of "contempt prior to investigation". Congratulations.
You know, here is the sad reality of it. National, my bargaining agent of the last 25 years, and Dalpa where I have been for way more than half of that time, have earned that "contempt" you speak of. Particularly over the past 3 years. While I appreciate their efforts while we were in BK and after when we worked through that merger, they have flat out phuqued the pooch since the O'Mally/NC debacle. So, yes I'm going to look at the whole deal. However, there are approximately 6-7 automatic deal killers, that if they are embedded in this TA, will warrant me putting it down and passing on it. So, by definition, I am a NO unless I can reason a YES. BTW, one of those deal killers is already rumored to be in the deal. It would be reasonable to believe that many pilots feel this way, especially in light of record profits and and that the company decided to "make it rain" with $6 billion dollar stock buy back and dividend shower- for the investors. What we are getting is the equivalent of whatever cash was left on the floor, after the blowout, that the janitor finds. |
