Agreed!!! I use to be an avid participant on the DALPA boards but grew very weary of the same knuckleheads(on both sides) hijacking the threads with the same tired old crap. So I left. Went to chit chat forum for literally 10 minutes and quit that. I get my fix on here, especially during contract times. My life is fuller with all the spare time!

Forget about the fact that the democrat party is so much more than Obama, Reid and Pelosi. Forget about the fact that the Republican Party is so much more than GW Bush. Personalize the entire organization as one person, and it'll likely work. That's why DALPA's Special Committee went with the tried and true method of identifying DPA as Caplinger. It's nothing personal, just gutter politics from a bankrupt ideology. Carl |

Here's a random thought:
The MEC is obviously divided on the merits of this agreement. I hate to see our union go through this divisive exercise. We need unity. There might be a way to get a 19-0 vote. ALPA is always accused of mounting a "sales job". Whether you agree or not, a lot of pilots perceive that as somehow unfair. That sales ritual is the source of nearly all the acrimony and divisiveness. One option would be to simply empower the rank and file: Send it out without the MEC formally recommending a yes or no vote. Let the line pilots read it and decide for themselves. Individual ALPA officials can opine to their hearts content. Just refrain from activating the "machine" this time. Small "d" democracy. Writ large. Management needs 19-0 because the challenges that come with adding 2 or 3 more fleets while retiring hundreds of captains each year for the next decade are unparalleled. The Delta pilots deserve the promised historic PWA after our billions in concessions. ALPA needs 19-0 because our pilots are detached and see ALPA as a failure. For me 19-0 is an automatic yes vote. I wear my ALPA pin and contribute to the PAC. Another mins run C2012 is a game changing mistake. Now is not the time to be cheap. I have no doubt the machine can push this through. If they do, the will win the battle and lose the war. The ramifications will be severe. |

No OE bumps seems like quite an abrogation of seniority... I hope that one isn't true. We'll find out next week!
I'd rather be on the right side of history than the winning or losing side any day. :) |
