Actually, it was me who stipulated. Papa

Yup. As far as the sick note, I agree absolutely. If they force me to get it, they pay for it. And since it takes me awhile to get in to see my Dr, it might take awhile.

I don't know enough about the GS thing of which you speak to comment.

Basically if you call in well and then get a GS, well it MUST have been abuse, right?

Obviously no, but some seem to think it is. Anyway, the previous TA had a provision that said sick calls will still count as if you flew them/sat reserve those days for the purpose of determining first run GS awards. IOW, you can't call out sick for a 4 day, then on day 6 pick up a 5 day GS (no 30 hour break) that you wouldn't have been legal for had you not called out sick to begin with. You would effectively lose your place in line and everyone else would get to GS it before you, unless they absolutely had no one, in which case you'd still get it anyway.

I thought that was 100% fair. It took away that incentive, yet didn't harm a single pilot because you can't complain about not getting something you shouldn't/wouldn't have gotten anyway. I assumed that would be in the new sick AIP, but I don't recall seeing it. Maybe I just missed it, but it would be unfathomable if it was omitted. I though it was a win/win for the pilot group and the company.

OTOH, some guys call in well and then get awarded a GS that would have been legal and awarded anyway even if they didn't call out sick. Its hard to call that "abuse" in any form or fashion.

However, what is disturbing in your post is exactly what I said earlier. "**** you James, I can wait to get mine". But when looked at from the other perspective, the short timers are vilified as not caring about those that come after them. The very definition of hypocritical.

Wow - I make an academic point from a neutral perspective and even stress I am not saying its right or wrong and you assume the worst and cast aspersions. Nice!

For the record - this is a foolish argument to made for precisely the reason you state - its two sides of the same coin. Young guys don't want the short timers to sell them out for a quick raise and old timers don't want the younger guys to delay too long for a better deal.

Unlike you I am just pointing out what I am seeing and not jumping to conclusions and calling fellow Pilots hypocritical.

It's been a year since Anderson made that statement. So far, I'm down about $30,000. While that's certainly not bad for everyone, it's bad as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe we'll recover it. But I don't think we should be crowing as if it's a fait accompli.

Fair enough. We all want the same thing, we just have different opinions on how we get there. Good luck to all of us! Papa

Scoop

It wasn't aimed at you specifically Scoop. It was merely an observation of the way it seems to go around this forum. God knows what it is like on **** shat or FB. Sorry for that.

I stand by the hypocritical comment however (again not aimed at you), but what I find curious is that you dropped in that little comment I highllighted.

We all know he said it. I was just confirming with the OP something he was spinning and having trouble acknowledging.
Cheers
