Really? Not for a million a year?

There are many pilots who feel that way about ATL, MSP, DTW, LAX, etc. also. NYC is a tough place for a junior NB pilot. Add a little seniority and/or move over to a WB and NYC is a whole different animal. Many of them are working for half of the $1 million* you would turn down, so I don't think you will ever be offered $1M.

*Including DC and PS.

I'd take the cs in NYC as a new hire for quick seniority. This one will probably be the new md88 position there with rocket ship seniority movement, so don't count it out. Do yourself a favor and think about more than the size of airplane and payrate (which is by the way the same the first year)...but throw in a million bucks a year and I'd move to the NYC area easy peasy!

For a million bucks

For a million bucks I'd commute to NYC. I'd buy a plane, place in the city, buy a plane ticket. I could swing it.

Yes Military....and yes I understand junior FO, covering all 3 bases, cross town commutes, etc.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something related to the new shiny aircraft, like unknown of type of flying, when training would start, typical growing planes of a new fleet, etc.

Thanks!
Narrow body categories in NYC cover all three airports, generally have mostly un-commutable trips, and require a trashy crash pad or expensive hotels. Life can be miserable in NYC if you commute......it's typically not worth the better seniority. Most won't bid the C-series in NYC by choice which is why I think they won't fill the positions on an AE and they will go to newhires in class which have no choice.

Now if you live there or can fly a wide body out of JFK, NYC isn't as bad as some think.

Yes, true. Just not my cup of tea. Not worth being unhappy, and I would be very unhappy spending much time in NYC..I know guys feel the same way about ATL or other bases and I'm not bashing the people who like NYC.

You must be doing great! Happy for you. I'm not in a position where I could turn down many (legal) things for that. Diapers and private school... darn kids! Although I did volunteer for NYC and won't be leaving so clearly I'm imbalanced.
