It seems strange..They are supposedly holding the guys on the 88 because of staffing issues(the FO's are staffed great right now and the Capt's are about right or slightly short), but are not training guys to fill the shortage..Maybe they are planning to dump the 88 quicker than originally planned?

It's possible no sims are available, but not dumping new hires into the 88 on last class trip seems strange. Delta says we are too tightly staffed currently on 88, and they are not letting guys go to training on other equipment. They may be held on the 88 for months if no newhires are coming to the 88.

I would never move there, but for a mil a year I'd easily commute. You could buy first class positive space tix for your entire schedule and not miss the money.

That got me wondering. If you're buying tickets to commute, does the company expect you to have a backup flight? Confirmed flights arriving in an hour or two before sign-in could make NYC palatable...
