The number of people in class ranges from low 20s to about 50. Odd numbers are not unusual either.

You mean they plan for an irregular number in class? That would be the first I've heard of that.

Go to page one of this thread. Look at the first post.

“8/22/16:
Nyc 73n - 10
nyc 320 - 16
nyc m88 - 16
nyc 717 - 11”

10+16=26 +16 = 42+ 11 =53. An odd number. My class, odd number with 100% reporting. My friends class has 23 people. All showed.

Ten years in the Air Force taught me that attempts to make sense of that which is not based in logic (or has hundreds of contributing factors) is futile. Way too many more important penguins on my limited iceburg.

• Additional new hire positions on the 717, 320, 73N and 7ER fleets. We do not anticipate needing any additional
new hire positions on the M88;
we will selectively backfill ATL M88 F/O positions as needed.

I guess they changed their mind already.

I believe that they are working in arrears placing newhires based off info from the last AE awarded in March. What was quoted above is a forecast in the upcoming 4/16 AE and I don’t think CR places new hires in accordance to forecast plans, only what was unfilled in the most previous AE.

Ever since using an unlucky number on a early Japan flight, DAL has been very wary of some numeric combos.

You are correct. The M88 new hires were from unfilled vacancies on a prior AE. A position cannot be offered to a new hire, unless it was first offered to existing pilots via an AE. The main reason for the upcoming AE is creating positions that will go unfilled and thus available for new hires.

It’s not just an odd number...it’s also strange!
