If they are offering TOWOP in December, I bet there’s some people on property willing to forgo the pay in order to get Christmas off. So, again, TOWOP isn’t necessarily a sign disaster is around the corner.

Lastly, as someone who obviously wants to fly as much as you can, TOWOP would actually help you. If not enough pilots take it, it means you’re not flying much at all. If enough do take it, you’re looking at the opportunity to probably fly as much as you want. As I said in my earlier post, mainline did this some over the summer. Guess what? After doing this, many of the categories that had TOWOP ended up giving out a lot of green slips.
Exactly, I foresee some senior guys going for it. Especially senior guys that have 2 weeks of vacation in December, as contractually they still would get paid for that vacation while on TOWOP...

This is how OO operates and unless LXJT gets sold soon. They’ll see the same thing happen to them with their United flying.

Why wouldn't they just bid last out reserve and get paid?

Exactly, TOWOP is a pretty bad deal. If you live in or near base just bid reserve and last out and youll be off the whole month with pay.

You can bid first out too and you still won’t get called

.......... I only reply in line with the above to highlight the reserve pref system. If you are senior and first out you will be called first unless the trip is 3 days long and youve only got two left. If at any time you are the senior person at the base and scheduling incorrectly assigns a trip to someone junior to you, similiarly situated, you should immediately fill out an issue form with the grievance committee. Scheduling has, for various reasons, screwed this up on a daily basis at times.

If you are middle of the pack that day, or even more junior, no, they won't call you first because senior pilots get first stab. If everyone above you lists "last out" then obviously you should expect a call.

Anyway, on with the bon fire.

Let's live in reality here. TOWOP is not a big deal, it has been offered before and will be offered again. It is not a sign of furloughing. There is a temporary overstaffing situation, evident by the fact that they are still running new hire classes. Delta offered their version of TOWOP all summer, and I don't see them getting close to furlough.

If you are so unhappy here, just leave already. You seriously do nothing but complain every day nonstop. You have only been here a few months, so not a lot of seniority to lose by jumping ship to somewhere else that you might like better. In the meantime, can you please stop being a whiny beotch?

You’re right, I meant to say those of us who are mid-lower pack of the reserves are bidding first out and still not getting squat.

Also at WMU guy, you must’ve used two packets of kool aid. Literally anybody who has been thru a furlough will tell you the first sign of furlough is something like this. But I’m sure you’re a high seniority line holder and couldn’t care less about little guys like us who are just getting started with our career.

Well like he said, Delta did towops no furlough in sight. It legitimately can be the beginnings of furloughs and if you think thats the case what are you still doing here?

Either way it's gonna be fun to watch. Does management have any credibility left? Does Delta have more growth for us? Will whatever trust built by endeavor management keep pilots here, or do they run to an airline with a quick upgrade and minimal reserve time?
